my brother needs prayer

hey yall.... my brother has been working at a teen challenge center in springfield MO for the past couple months. they were having a bonfire tonight and a gas can blew up in his face. he can see and breathe, but his face and arms are burnt. he's been airlifted to st johns hospital (not sure where that is, if any of you local guys up there can fill me in on that please do). but he's in a lot of pain. my mom, dad, and sister are driving to ATL to fly out in the morning. on top of all that, he doesnt have health insurance through the teen challenge, so we're gonna have to come up with the money ourselves somehow. but money is not the issue, we just want him to be ok so i ask yall please just pray for his healing and just to be with him and my family until we get passed it.

Not a problem at this house either, but I would be getting a lawyer involved and making sure his job pays for the medical bills....

Never heard of St. Johns, but John Hopkins is in baltimore

soupy1957 04-27-2008 08:28 AM

Here's a Google link to the hospital in Springfield, if that's where they took him. Should help with directions and phone numbers and such.

Obviously we too will keep you, your family, and your brother in prayer..

Your brother, you and your family are in my prayers. I hope he has a quick recovery.

As for not having insurance, most hospitals have a financial aid program to help with this sort of thing. Also, if it happened on the job, his employer should pay for it. Or he could file an L/I claim. Best of luck to your brother, you and your family getting through this.

Barrie 04-27-2008 02:14 PM

You and your brother are in my prayers. Good Luck and God Bless.

Just prayed, and will keep your brother, you and your family in my prayers.

When my daughter broke her back in an auto accident she didn't have insurance either. We went through a considerable process, but were able to get her covered by Medicaid becuse of her independent status and low income. She ended up owing $0 of over a hundred thousand in bills.

She was also in St. Johns. That hospital was near Toledo though.

God bless.

as of right now. he's gonna get skin grafts (sp?) on his arms, hands, and legs.... they're hoping his face will heal up fine with minimal - no scaring. not sure how long this is gonna take though. expecting an update from my sister tonight. thanks yall

Smeghead 04-28-2008 07:24 PM

I wonder if theres some kinda "online get well soon card" we could all put a note on and print out and give to him.
Must be, surely someones thought of that already

1BLKJP 04-28-2008 08:03 PM

My thoughts are with him boss. Hope he recovers well and soon.

Make sure he understands where they get the skin from before he goes under.
When I got a skin graft on my arm they forgot to tell me that part, when I woke up from the surgery and my ass hurt, I got scared they'd operated on the wrong part and freaked out to the point they had to restrain me.

Good luck.

ccain 04-29-2008 12:09 PM

His biggest hurdle right now is going to be infection...
Not only will he be at risk for infection from the burns, he'll run the risk of infection at the graft sites.
If he can get past this without any infection he's golden. Sounds like he's in good hands.
Poor guy... There is NONE of this that is even remotely comfortable.
If they keep him comfortable with pain meds and IV antibiotics all should come out ok.

Good luck... I truly wish him the best!

crj101 04-29-2008 12:49 PM

Things sound to be going well, I hope your family is holding up well, keep us posted.
