Still cant find whats knocking
Replaced track bar, sway bar bushings, all ball joints and tre are new. Had it at a shop and the shocks and springs are good. U joints are good. Hub assemblies are new. Sway bar links are good. All bushings are good. I'm lost. Knocks when I hit even the smallest bump or when I turn
check exhaust clearance ( pay close attention at bend over rear axle )
check transfer case mount and skid plate bolts.
check gas tank mount
charcoal canister, windshield wiper fluid tank,radiator,battery
It's coming from the front somewhere. Ive checked just about everything and so have a dealership and a shop
Make sure your cat is not slapping ur skid plate
It's almost like its something making my whole front end unstable
i have the same thing , i have not had time to go under but i get a clunk/pop when i hit a light bump , or when i turn or sometimes when i accelerate or let off , i can feel it under my feet inside

Me too. My knocking started right after having a Motorcraft 2150 carb installed a week ago. I've since had a complete exhaust replacement with no change. I have some play in my steering shaft but I don't think that's it. It sounds like it's coming from under the dash at the firewall.
Where is the charcoal cannister?
I have been dealing with something that sounds identical, pretty sure mine is the transfer case linkage that is attached to the side of the drivers side floorboard.
Try moving the 4wd lever just a tiny bit until its really snug, that seems to stop mine for awhile, when it starts again i just repeat the process.
I could be way off, but its something to try
I believe the charcoal canister is behind the passenger tail light, but that might only be certain years
i new sway bar end links ,u joints, and steering stabilizer. but i feel its coming from the right front but it also sounds underneath. I need 2 new tires but i dont think it would make it clunk. Every thing is stock with napa parts and spicer u-joints. I have no tools since i live in chicago till i go home back to metro detroit.
Grab your tie rod, drag link and track bar with both hands and try to shake the crap out of them. There shoiuld be no play in them at all.
It's a lomg shot, but check lug nuts - do you have wheel spacers?

A thumping or creaking noise may be heard coming from the transmission tunnel area on acceleration or while driving over bumpy roads.
Road test the vehicle, if the noise is present and there are no worn or damaged parts relating to the transfer case shift mechanism, perform the Repair Procedure.

This bulletin involves installing a transfer case shifter repair kit.
1. Disconnect the shift rods from the torque shaft.
2. Remove the torque shaft by prying the shaft out of the green torque shaft bushing in the transmission bracket. (Refer to Figure 1) Install new bushings on the torque shaft for XJ and TJ.
3. Remove the bronze bushing/retainer and rubber gasket from the body bracket.
4. Remove the green torque shaft bushing from the transmission bracket and install the new bushing supplied in the kit. Insert the new gasket into the body bracket.
5. Install the bronze bushing/retainer and tightening the screws to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.).
**NOTE :TJ AND XJ MODELS USE THE ORIGINAL TORQUE SHAFT WITH THE NEW PARTS SUPPLIED IN THE XJ/TJ KIT. ZJ/ZG REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF THE TORQUE SHAFT WHICH IS SUPPLIED IN THE ZJ/ZG KIT.**
6. Slide the boot on to the torque shaft and apply multipurpose grease (MOPAR p/n 04318063 or equivalent) to the area that the bronze bushing will contact.
7. Install the torque shaft and seat the boot on the bushing retainer flange.
8. Connect the transfer case shift linkage and adjust as necessary.
POLICY: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.

My previous 03 TJ had a knock/thump coming from the right front every time I hit a bump, drove me crazy trying to find the source.
It turned out to be a loose bushing in the right front upper control arm bushing (at the axle). The steel sleeve was was no longer press fitted in the stock upper axle end mount.
I replaced it and never heard the noise again.
Still haven't found it. I've looked at things daily and I am going insane. 5 shops/dealerships and they have no clue. They say well we can just replace everything. I already did that. Sorry ill keep my 1500 bucks
Mine was doing the same thing no loss of horse power but knocking like crazy this is what I found.....
