15x10 or 15x8
 
This is for my TJ running 33x12.5, which would you prefer and why? What backspacing?

they will hold the bead better when aired down. i run 15x8s on my 33x12.50s and love them

Isn't the point of airing down to allow for more of a patch of rubber to contact the ground? Wouldn't 15x10s already have a pretty large patch and not need to be aired down?

More likely to come off the bead with 15/10 I have 15/8 never had a problem I've been down to 3 psi

I'm not saying it will but it's more likely to come off on 15/10 then 15/8 when ur 4 wheeling

Not to mention that when ur wheeling I would rather have my tire stick out more then my rims so I scratch the tire and not mess up the rims u dent ur rims not good u scratch ur tire o well :)

If your having to air down that much, beadlocks are in order :D

I have run both sizes, no day and night difference in keeping the tire on. now if your going way down as stated get some bead locks. the main part holding the tire is the psi, the force of the psi on the inner side wall is the same in either rim..10 psi is 10psi, thus the factor become if there is extra force being applied by the tire lip itself between the two rims sizes.. I am not sure on those loads, and have not seen any data. would love to see it to compare.

I'm not saying it will ever happen but it could more area on the rim means more play in the tire if aired down I have used both to but went back to the 15x8 because I didnt have money for the beadlocks like I wanted I am less worried about them coming off when aired down on a 15x8 then I am with a 15x10

A larger patch on the road is gonna mean less fuel milage, 15x10s are heavier too. more expensive. I run 15x8 DC2 wheels, with 33x12.50x15 Duratracs they have 3.65" of backspacing. they don't rub anything. I run them at 26 psi all the time, I don't air down on the trail. they do great.
