2.5 auto guys - what rpm at freeway speed

I have a 95 with the 2.5 auto, and 33" tires.... I don't take it on the freeway very often, so I am clueless as to what the typical rpms are for freeways speed.

I had to take the freeway this morning and my speedometer said 55 when my tach was just under 3k... I didn't feel comfortable pushing it past that, and I honestly don't know if it would have gone faster if I tried

Can you let me know what rpms you're running in the freeway speeds?

Thanks :wavey:

That is about right. I pushed mine up the mountain Sunday at 3K all the way didn't want to punish it too much. On the way home I was running 3K at 55. I am a 2.5 TBI with 4:10s runnin 33s

You were probably around 70mph or so right there. If it scoots along like that comfortably for you then there's no reason to change it. I'm running around 2800rpm at 65mph, the 2.5L was made to run in that RPM range.

Get a GPS to verify- if you have an Android or iPhone then there's plenty of speedometer applications.

I run about 2600 at 65 MPH and 2900 at 70. Stock 5-speed manual with 31" tires.
