Moving to 33 inch tires?

Whats Up!? So I have a 4.5'' lift on my TJ and the tow gearing, which i think is 3.73..... i might be wrong on the tow gearing but i know my gearing is at 3.73, and i currently have 31x10.50 r15 Wrangler tires on it and they look a little small. I am thinking of moving to the 33 inch cooper discoverer stt's or the Pro Comp Mud Terrain. What are the pros and cons? Is this a good idea or should i stick with a 31 inch tire?

With that gear ratio you will very rarely see 5th gear.. Pro Comp tires are junk, Coopers are OK, but for about $20 more per tire, you can get the far superior BFG KM2s..

I also would highly recommend the bfg km2s. I personally run the bfg at but I have a few of 4x4 buddies who run the km2s and love them. For a little bit more price you will get a much better tire. Not bashing on the pro comps or coopers, but from my personal experience the bfg is the best way to go.

With that amount of lift, you could run 35" tires if you like. I just upgraded to a 4" suspension lift + 1" body lift and I'm running 35" KM2s. I'm very pleased with how it rides and performs.

Oh, I guess that's another vote for the KM2s. ;)

Don't be shy, you can bash pro comps any time ,, friends of mine had them 25,000 miles, tops, impossible to balance, and the road noise unbearable Oh wait!! I just did enough bashing for both of us.. I have a theory that if people would stop buying junk one of two things would happen. Those junk companies would go out of business and the quality companies would increase production to meet the demand, increased production equals lower cost.. Or the junk companies would get the hint and start putting out a better product..

What ever you do, go up to 32s or 33s you'll never look back! it makes your jeep so much more capable, and better looking! Personally I have the 33x12.50 Duratracs and love them! I can't say anything twords the KM2s or the procomps.

The BFGs are a Jeeping staple. You just can't go wrong with BFG. I also like the Nitto Mud Grapplers and will try them next, although I know they are loud and probably more show than go...

Although you could fit 35s, I believe anything over 33" will require a R&P gear change in order to maintain highway drivability.

Thanks for the answers. Those KM2s look savage.
