cheapest place to order gears

well.. still debating on 4.56s or 4.88s

but i called absolute offroad because their website didnt show the price for new carriers..

heres the pricelist from ordering off of them

dana 30 carrier- $70
dana 44 carrier- $70
dana 30 install kit- $87
dana 44 install kit $102
dana 30 reverse cut gears- $122
dana 44 gears- $128

it comes out to $579 + tax (i believe he's got free shipping on orders of $100 or more)

anybody know of a cheaper place?

also i know i need the new carrier for the hp dana 30.. the cutoff is at 3.56 i believe..

whats the carrier break for a dana 44? im pretty sure its 4.10s right?

yeah, the carrier break on the 44 is 3.73 so with 4.56 you will need a new carrier.

And remember Joe usually only sells Yukon gears which setup extremely well and have a very good reliable reputation.

If you're not installing the gears yourself, don't buy them online and provide them to the installer. If ANYTHING goes wrong after they're installed, the installer will blame the parts you gave him and the dealer who sold them to you will blame the installer... who is usually the one that causes problems. Then you're left holding the bag as they point fingers at each other. Even IF you could get the dealer to replace the parts under warranty which is highly doubtful since they will be blaming the installer, the installer is going to want you to pay for him to install them again... since he'll say it wasn't his fault in the first place.

Saving a few bucks online just isn't worth it. Especially since most installers will discount the parts they provide to get you to use them for the labor which is where they make their real profit.

You say your front D30 has reverse cut gears right???The reason I ask I have yet to pull the cover on mine but the front has REV stamped right in the cover with some other numbers. But I was told on here that they didn't put reverse cut gears in the TJs.

well.. the guy who is regearing my axles TOLD me to get them for him =p its not a local shop, its a guy who does the stuff on the side.. he works at a 4x4 shop.. but they dont mess with gears there.. but he has done them for years at where he use to work..

and slf.. im replacing my tj dana 30 with a xj hp dana 30.. which is why the gears are reverse cut =p the axle is a little bit stronger

Ok I was wondering.Hey if you don't mind checking for me on your old D30 when you pull it check to see if it also has REV stamped in the cover. It is just the 3 capitol letters REV with some number behind that.I just can't figure why mine would have REV stamped in the cover.I am to lazy to pull the cover to cure my curiosity.

TJ's have low pinion D30's wile XJ Cherokee's had high pinion reverse cut gears. If your TJ has the factory axle it came with it will be standard rotation.
