Custom skid plates

ok... here's one for the mob...

I'm gonna make some custom skid plates... I was thinking 1/4 inch steel... how much weight do you think I can get away with under the jeep?

I was guessing 200-300 pounds..

I was also thinking of making it into the tranny pan... kind of like that tummy tuck kit they sell.

I do a lot of hunting and rock crawling with it...

and its a DD... but not for long as my DD YJ is almost done with an engine rebuild... but I wanna be able to drive my TJ to the wheelin spots...

What say you all?

2-300 lbs of skid plates sounds like a lot just for underneath

it's f'n heavy....especially when trying to wrestle it around off the jeep.

I got this stuff long before the current market players were available. To do it over again, I'd do UCF's aluminum skids.

Mines 3/16 and its a pita to work with. Worth the protection but probably weighs about 100 lbs

After going aluminium, I'd never do anything else. I can easily lower and lift my Savvy skids by myself without much effort at all. It makes removing them for servicing things much less of a chore.
