Running 33 tires, what lift?
 
Hey guys, I have been looking into getting my 05 wrangler some 33 inch tires but figured I'd come here for some advice seeing i don't have much knowledge on lifts or tires. What kind of lifts do you guys have and recommend for 33s and can you show some pictures and show me what sites you grabbed them from? Thanks in advance!

I'm running a 3inch BDS lift and 33x12.5 Dick Cepek FM2 tires

This is the age old ? For 33's some guys get away with 3.25 inches of lift they will rub at full stuff. Or they run 4 inches. Then at 4" you can go long arm or short arm it all depends on what you want to do with your jeep

yeah ill rub at full stuff, but eventually i plan on going to tube fenders, that and i need now wheels because even with the spacers i still rub at full turn

I went with no lift and metal cloak fenders :dance:

Proper length bump stop extensions will stop the rubbing at full stuff until you upgrade to tube fenders. You can damage a fender, fender flare, coil spring, and even a tire if it rubs enough. I messed up a coil by not doing extensions. It was a lot of grief and sweat wasted by not doing bump stop extensions right the first time

33's are most commonly fit in two ways on TJ's:

1. 4" suspension lift, with ~2" bumpstop extensions in front and ~2-2.5" in the rear. Requires a SYE/CV shaft.
2. 2.5" suspension lift, with a 1.25" body lift, with ~1.25" bumpstop extensions in front and ~1.25-1.5" in the rear. The 1.25" BL usually accompanies a 1" Motor Mount Lift to offset some of the driveline angles.

Either way you go you'll also need to check full bump, full flex and full droop and figure on many of the following components: longer front brake lines, extended sway bar links front and rear, gears, brake and steering upgrades to accommodate larger tires, SYE, CV shaft, bumpstop extensions, new shocks, adjustable track bars, and a rear track bar bracket.

Here's how I ended up fitting 33s...

I'm running 33x10.50x15's with a 2 inch budget boost. A proper lift will come later, but for now it works fine and I only rub a bit at full turn.
