1991 jeep wrangler fuel problem
 
wont start no gas getting to motor , here is what i have done ,
new fuel pump
blown out fuel lines ,
new gas
new fuel filter
new fuel pump relay, new battery
Also did a full tune up new spark plugs, wires, cap, etc.

I don't think the new pump is bad so what could be the problems. I have tried checking all the fuses but everything seems fine I replaced it just in case and still nothing! It attempts to turn over but then nothing since it's not getting fuel.

The fuel pump comes on when I turn the key on but only stays on for a few seconds or so.
Fuel is not reaching the rail line and so the engine is not getting any fuel. The problem has to be electrical and I checked the relay and that doesn't seem to be the problem. An extra fuse I am overlooking like a special inline fuel in order to keep the fuel pump on? Any ideas? Thanks in advance!!

spring in the fuel pressure regulator likes to fail and can prevent fuel from getting where it needs too.

If you need to you can throw a jummper in place of your fuel pump relay and force it to stay on to see if it will run.(if it works with the jumper it's either a bad wire or computer)

Have you checked for spark also? If you aren't getting spark either, I would suspect a bad crank position sensor. The computer turns on the fuel pump for a couple of seconds when it runs self diagnostics at power up, and turns it on again when it gets signal from the crank sensor that the engine is turning over to start. Also check to see if the computer has any fault codes stored by turning the key on-off-on-off-on and counting the flashes of the check engine light.
Because you can hear the fuel pump turn on momentarily when you turn the key on, as it should, I would think that you can rule out the fuel pump electrical system as a problem.

I believe it isn't the crank sensor because I checked if it was getting power and it's good. I will attempt to hook up jumpers directly since I have yet to try that. Still I can't help but feel like maybe its a fuse or possibly a wire. It does get spark at the rail just no fuel..

do this, disconnect the line coming into the fuel filter then turn the key on, see if it's sending fuel at all, if yes, reconnect the line and check the outflow of the fuel filter. if no, its something with the pump

There is a ground wire that is attached to the drivers floor board where the e brake is mounted on one of the bolts crappy spot mine as doing the same thing after a ebrake recall they( the dealership)left the wire off took them a long time to find it to get me running

this was my problem after i did some work under the dash, but he said the pump is priming so i THINK thats not the issue, idk for sure though, it may prime without that ground, but need it to actually run

This sounds a lot like the problem I just had. It was very frustrating. It ended up being the crank sensor, and like you I didn't think it was the problem. Finally went to my mechanic and he hooked up his ohm tester...tested fine. Moved the wires a bit and found resistance. Replaced the sensor and it runs like a charm.

For $50 it's worth a try.
