New guy from Woodinville

I already posted in the new members forum, but wanted to introduce myself here as well. Always wanted a Wrangler so I recently picked up an '08 Rubicon and have been enjoying every second behind the wheel.

Glad to be here.

I'm not new to Washington but I purchased a rubicon unlimited in December and still haven't done much off roading. Have you found any places closeto woodenville that are easy for a stock Jk

Wterryble 09-11-2012 06:27 PM

I'm new to the Jk world and wondering where I can take my stock unlimited and have fun as a first timer. Anything close to Bellevue?

Wow, disregard that last message!

Ok, since I have owned my stock unlimited I can't say that I have "wheeling" like many of the other members because I still am running stock pizza cutters, haha. But!!! I have more forest road knowledge than most! If your out of Bellevue try middle fork snoqaulmie. It may not be "wheeling but if you go past Taylor river you can start to feel the expiditionist/explorist part of jeeping without the cost of wheeling.

I am from Shoreline, I have not have a lot time to get out this summer but my schedual will free up soon. There are alot of places to go with a stock jeep. I took mine out to Tahuya and no problem. Let hook up real soon

You'd be very surprised by what you can actually do. A lot of the scarey stuff can traversed with little trouble if you just choose the right line.
There is a trip out to nachess this Sunday. For us eastsiders, you go down to auburn, then east over the pass through 410, then there is some wheelin out there in sunny, arid eastern washington.

We're also working on a trip to Tahuya on the 23rd, I'm going to try to make that.

Hop on my contact list and check in on our thread "eastside jeep club".

Hey! I just bought a stock 06 Sport and live in Bellevue. I've been checking out some forest service roads up near Bellingham because thats where I grew up. If you want to go out and do some light stuff I would be more than happy to go. I'm trying to find some people to go with in the area.

Cascadian 09-14-2012 01:39 AM

Hey sorry for being slow to reply to my own thread, I've not been around my computer a whole lot the last few days.

I've only had my Jeep for a few weeks so I haven't had to a change to take it offroad yet. I'm new to 4x4ing in general so light stuff is what I'm interested in at this stage and I'm still looking to discover good places as well.

It's cool to see what a great community there is here! It'd be great to meet up with you guys and go off roading sometime soon. This weekend probably won't work for me but I'll look into the Eastside group for future plans. Also my best friend lives in Bellingham so I always up for heading out that way.

The weekend after this is a trip to Tahuya, it's perfect for a first time. All of the difficult parts of the trail have a way around if you don't feel up to the challenge. We're talking about it in the eastside group. I'm also working on a facebook group

Wterryble 09-14-2012 05:24 PM

Thanks for all the great info everyone.....I look forward to tearing up some trails with you guys

Tim_ho 09-15-2012 02:01 AM

I would be down to go up to Bellingham in a couple weeks. There are some old logging road on the north side of Lake Whatcom that I really want to go and check out.

Just got back from exploring I-90 today, needed to stay within an hour of issaqauh since my 2 month old is riding co pilot on my expeditions.

Impressed potential of forest road just past Olallie state park(2exits past north bend). Didn't get to explore alot other than the awesome hillclimb of an FR. Looking at google maps it was tip of the iceberg for access to woods and camping from 90.

Runs across powerline trails which usually have good trails. If you only feel like a half hour drive from eastside I recommend it highly!

Tim_ho 09-16-2012 01:17 AM

I would be down to do some exploring that direction sometime

4-loco 09-16-2012 01:22 AM

Exit 38 and tinkham rd have a lot of forest roads, I used to go exploring them in my subaru. Tim, if you want to do some exploring up north, let's just hit walker valley (Mt. Vernon)

Tim_ho 09-17-2012 08:40 PM

I'm busy for the next couple weekends but I can go mid October

Tim_ho 09-20-2012 01:21 AM

4-loco, and anyone else, would you want to go up to walker on october 6th?

Also past tinkham are some powerline trails that are kinda fun. Its a little more difficult than a forest road but super easy. My friend has done it in his mercedes ml 320. Its the cabin creek exit, cant remember what exit number it is. But its worth it for an easy fun day. I live in downtown kirkland, so its not that far. My friends and I have gone up after school on fridays.

4-loco 09-25-2012 03:29 AM

There's a guy on cherokee forums who wants to check out walker valley friday, anybody want to come with?

Cascadian 09-25-2012 06:47 PM

Hey, the last couple of weekends have been pretty busy, and things look hectic for at least another week or two. I'm looking forward to meeting up with you guys in the near future though.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 08:19 PM.
