New to the jeep world, having lots of fun but spending too much money. Got it a few months back this is what it looked like the day it came home with me. I will add pictures as I do things

The first thing I did was add lights to top light bar and to the bumper, lots of mountain roads where I live want as much light as possible

Removed back seat, made a lock box to hold tools, new floor mat and now lots of room for camping gear

You have a very nice Jeep there and nice seats. What brand are they and how do you like them?

jokerchief462 09-12-2012 09:35 AM

Welcome to the forum, nice rig looks great. Wish my 89 was in that shape when I got it. You will enjoy the reading and advice here on the forum, very educational there are some real expert wrenchers and fabricators. Enjoy your ride and have some fun.

They are Bestop TrailMax seats, I like them very comfortable

BCDonny 09-12-2012 01:24 PM

I have also added to the jeep 6 inch flares, just waiting for the tires and the 4 inch rough country suspension lift. Maybe have that all done by the end of today

MarkNog 09-12-2012 01:29 PM

Dont forget the pictures of it lifted! Btw the interior looks amazing!

Lift done had to remove top lights to get it out of garage. It's about 1/8 inch to tall

Still on order and need to install rocker guard with slider, GM HEI distributor with wires, and a new motor craft 2150 carb. Once card and distributor installed I can remove ECM, ignition module, old coil, and miles of vacuum lines.

Nice islander. I can't help but notice you also tossed your stripes. Were you just looking for a Jeep and not an Islander in particular? Either way it looks awesome. Love the color and the wheels/tires. I have an 89 as well.

Well I liked the color but the strips and the sun just seemed to be too much, I was not looking for a jeep but seen it on a ad and the price was right so it came home with me.

This is something I'm looking at doing soon. Let us know how it turns out. I also have an '89 Islander. 5 speed with the 4.2. I've only had her 3 weeks and can't believe I waited 40 years to buy a Jeep.

Got a chance to take it out for a ride nothing to rough. I found the rough country suspension fine it was good on and off road, I have read a few say it is not that good. I have no problem, I really like the way the suspension and tires handle at hiway speeds

Out for another ride, on top of the world. You can see the lights from my small town Squamish BC Canada. Great wheeling country
