Bedlining the whole exterior

Has anyone bed lined there jeep over the paint? With the roll on Berliner just curious how it would look and how heavy it would be pics would be great

I use monsta liner and just scuffed up the paint. I put down two coats. Looks pretty damn good. You want a picture just let me know.

kpla51 09-15-2012 04:39 PM

Yes please u can pm it to me or post on here

I saw 2 CJ's at Jeepbeach bedlined, one black and one red. Personally I didn't think it looked good. Might be ok to do to a beater jeep, but yours looks real nice. I'd think a while before doing it, cause it'll be like getting a tattoo, you'll get it and later on regret it.

I disagree I did the inside of my jeep and it has worked really really good.

kpla51 09-15-2012 05:02 PM

The trails I like just tear up the paint

kpla51 09-15-2012 05:02 PM

So I'm looking for an alternative

kpla51 09-15-2012 05:22 PM

Ok u said it shaves branches but presure washer takes it off haha I'm confused

Mad Max Jeep 09-15-2012 05:28 PM

Nice shiney paint jobs are nice n all but...around $600 paint job..then one scratch Holy Crap!! $7.50 can of spray bed liner pssssssst your done.. lol (priceless)

kpla51 09-15-2012 05:31 PM

Did u use the dupicolor can ?

Mad Max Jeep 09-15-2012 05:32 PM

Yeah the bedliner is like sand paper to trees. leaves marks. it will wash off. I say high pressure soap at the car wash. BC trying to use a rag will just stick to it..or at home i use a ruff bristle push broom

Mad Max Jeep 09-15-2012 05:35 PM

Rust-Oleum Truck bed coating areosol can found it at wal-mart in automotive i think they have at auto zone too

kpla51 09-15-2012 05:37 PM

Ya I see it at wallmart there's not many trails here so I go in the woods and make them and scratch my paint to s**t haha

Mad Max Jeep 09-15-2012 06:11 PM

I know how ya feel.plus it's good at like parking lots...buggies,and idiots that like to key cars. All they're gonna do is file down there key...Ha!! who's laughin now

kpla51 09-15-2012 06:13 PM

How many cans and coats did u do

VHunter 09-15-2012 06:19 PM

I did mine in red herculiner. A gallon and a quart was plenty, I allied it with a paint brush. I did two coats, then a third just to touch up a few areas. You can see the results in my profile pict.

(Edit) It looks like I need to re-add my profile picture.

kpla51 09-15-2012 06:29 PM

What other colors do they have

Mad Max Jeep 09-15-2012 06:30 PM

about 6-8 cans roughly 2 coats

Mad Max Jeep 09-15-2012 06:36 PM

how did the texture turn out on that? mines gritty like sand paper.can't really tell till you touch it

The first is a close up of the hood, and the second is after the front half was done. I've since finished the rest of the jeep.

Herculiner uses bigger rubber particles than other brands I've seen. I used the spray on rustoleum on on the flares. I prefer the herculine for the body.

here's mine the first one is what it does to trees. i like that..a little too shiney for me but it looks good:thumb:

kpla51 09-15-2012 06:53 PM

It looks good

kpla51 09-15-2012 07:13 PM

You would think the spray on would be less durable how much is hurculiner

Mad Max Jeep 09-15-2012 07:25 PM

it does have spots like where the hood smacks the grill.but it's been on there 3-4 years now...i just psssssst and go.has'nt faded either..hmmm...maybe i will herculine then spray that on

I did it about 2 years ago, it was between $150 and $200. I've had no issues with either the herculiner or the spray on, on the flares. With the right prep and application it just depends on the texture and color you want.

Mad Max Jeep 09-15-2012 07:45 PM

I spent about 60 for mine...but the herculiner is pretty tuff, huh?

kpla51 09-15-2012 07:45 PM

awesome ill do my flares first to see how it holds up then decide what i want with the body
