Mopar Offroad Front Bumper Part Question with Photos

2 Attachment(s)
I have searched and can not locate the part number for this plastic POS that covers the bumper guards (if that is the correct term). Has anyone had to replace these plastic caps and if so, were you able to find a solid or rubber replacement? Something like the AEV or similar solid covers would be nice. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

WAHA

Part number is 68031424AA.

Waha 09-23-2012 04:15 PM

Thank You sooo much :thumb: Where did you locate the number?

Ancient Chinese secret. :D

Sweet! Do you know of a better replacement or mod?

I'd replace the stock hook with a metal loop & D-ring.

Stan, Sounds good. Any issues with removing the round tubes or just cut them off with a grinder?

They are there for 2.5 mph impacts, NTHSA reqm't. Which means that w/o them you could have more damage in a parking lot accident. Ad far as removing them, aren't they part of the recovery loop bracket? If so, you could remove the whole bracket & replace it with a loop bracket.

Thanks for that Stan. They are welded onto the bumper. The hooks go around them through the bumper to the frame. Looks like a simple fix, cut the tubes off and bolt on some rings. Kinda wish the covers were metal or rubber with bolts. I have grown to like the poor man's AEV look ;)

Cut em off with a grinder, shoot some paint and add D-ring mounts with Crosby D-rings.

I got to get that bumper !

Its the Mopar offroad bumper with winch mount. It doesn't come with the diamond plate in the center. I added that to cover the hole for the winch.

I just saw that in your profile. Very nice indeed :thumb:. Thank you so much for the info and photos. I did an online quote for the caps and they want $65 each for plastic that will fall off with the first stump you cross or any high pressure car wash! Nice looking jeeps too :punk:

I am going to leave the 60lb skid plate off also as it just pushed the trial up and on to those darn caps.....

Thanks Again!

WAHA

Geez loueez! $65 for a plastic cover?

The D-ring mounts use the same holes as the towhooks.

Thanks for the compliments!

That's the bumper I started looking at but then decided to go with the Warn bumper their was no modification to have to do. For about the same price and I got free shipping.

Matte black looks like bed liner. You must cut one place where your vacuum canister bracket is and move it back they give you the new bracket. As you can see I use my factory fogs

Moving the VC is very easy. It's matte black

You can got to Quadratec web site find the warn bumper and down load the complete instruction for installing it color picture and all.
Just don't buy it there you'll have to pay for shipping.
I got mine at 4WD hardware and they will match any price you can find on-line and ship it to you free.

What winch you have in there? If I was planning on rarely sing my winch, but justwantedit there in case, should I avoid the spydura rope even if I was concerned about weight?

mcgee10 09-30-2012 03:23 AM

My winch is a M8000 this is my second one, I have the same winch on my Chevy pickup and have had many years of great service with it. As for the synthetic rope after you use it a few times I'll never go back to that nasty cable never.
