2" lift with stock size tires?

I was thinking of putting a 2" lift on my 2011 unlimited wrangler, but not increasing the tire size. I thought I could go with the stock size, just more aggressive tread. Any thoughts? Does anyone have pics of something like that?

Don't.

Put the lift on and get a bigger set of tires. You'll regret it if you don't.

That's a good woman, she possibly foresees the endless money hole that is your jeep. If you don't do it right the first time...you'll do it again...and again...and again...and

She says thanks...

Sounds great to me... I just don't want to lose too much get up and go... or MPG.

Take your floor jack and measuring tape and jack your Jeep up 2" and see if you like it. If you like what you see go for it and if not, get the bigger tires.:)

Wow I didn't even think about doing that... I was trying to find pictures of what a 2" - 2.5" lifted Jeep would look like on stock tires so I know what to expect... I do have plans to go with 315/70/17's but it will be awhile before they come so I know my Jeep will look not that great but with my budget its gonna have to come in stages.

2" is not too bad. This is with stock rubi tires.

Here is a pic of my 2012 JKUR with 2 1/2" lift and stock Rubi tires on powdercoated stock moab wheels. In my opinion it looks fine until Im ready to get bigger tires.

I'm getting a 2.5" OME lift on Thursday. I plan to run these 255/75-15 BFG M/T's until I need new tires. I have Shrockworks front and rear bumpers coming and Rigid D2's. To me it's a matter of maximizing funds. I've seen a few 2 -2.5" lifts with stock tires and they look fine. Maybe it's the BFG's which are a beefier tire anyway, but I think it'll look fine. They guys at 4Wheel Parts agree. I'll only be going up to 33's anyway when I do upsize. I'll post pics after the lift is installed.

Nice! That's the look I'm aiming for.

I'm in the same situation. I have an 07 unlimited x and I wanna lift it 2.5-3 and put tires on it but it'll be a while before I can do tires. Just worried about the 2.5-3 inch lift on stocks for a while.

Barlow Jeep Rentals in Sedona, Arizona, who really know Jeeps, have their Rubicons lifted 2 inches with stock tires and no problems and they look great. Bigger is not always better for tires, though. Depends on what you plan to do. Their Jeeps deal with some serious mud and rocks. But if you want to spend the money and deal with gearing issues, geometry, etc. go ahead. Just be aware that one thing leads to another. Do your homework in assessing larger tires. :thumb:
