New member, a Navy HM @ Camp Lejeune.
Unfortunately, I have registered to a forum under unfortunate circumstances, but have confidence that the you good jeepers will help see me through to the light.

It's a problem including all the controls on the steering wheel: blinkers, windshield wipers/fluid. My soft top leaks water, and gets the seat, dashboard, steering wheel wet. I've been warned that this could lead to corrosion, which is what I'm betting on. I just returned from military training at 29Palms, CA. A month it has been since the last time I turned the key in my ride, and I hear that there has been a substantial amount of rain back home during that month. This is a terrible safety issue, as I can no longer signal my turns, or engage the wipers for a clear vision of the road during rain. Gotta build confidence with solving this on my own! Thanks!

Several other members here report that the clock spring fails when it takes on water. I'll have to get this replaced, along with waterproofing my ride in the even the soft top is up during rainfall. Hope this helps any members that are looking to solve this issue.

Welcome to the Forum and Thank You for Your Service

One of our forum vendors, InfernoGirl, makes a column cover to use when you are parked with the top down or if, as in your case, you have leaks. I just throw a plastic garbage bag over mine if it looks like rain is possible.
