Detroit Truetrac

1999 TJ Sahara.
Dana 35 rear.
Its my daily driver, and does only mild off-roading. BUT as I live in Canada, and we see a good deal of snow, ice, slush, mush and all the above, I would like so increased traction.

SO WILL THE TRUETRAC'S BE OK WITH THE DANA 35???

yes it should definitely be okay with the Dana 35... i've seen a few people on here run them with the 27 spline chromolly shafts...but u should be okay

Just depends in tire size

I've been running a dana 35 and truetrac for over 6 years with 33x10.5 BFG MTs. I did replace my axles with 27 splined alloys. Zero issues and I daily drive and wheel my Jeep :).

Will they effect handling if I put one in the front diff?

For me my front and rear TrueTracs were transparent on the road, I couldn't feel their presence; however off road, I thought they were great.

In winter snow and ice conditions on the streets, they gave the Jeep much more control.

TrueTracs in action :).

IslandTJ - you make me feel I cheated and overbuilt my rig by putting in the front elocker.

IslandTJ 10-28-2012 04:06 PM

LOL, I don't know about that :). I do know that once I lift a tire, or if the rocks get too big, I'll have to unspool wire from the winch. While the Truetracs suit me well in the Pacific Northwest, if I ever decide to lock in the future - it will be with front and rear Eaton elockers ;).

That's the nice thing about the TrueTracs; unlike clutch based LSDs, they don't need special additives whatsoever mixed in with the gear oil :punk:.

I personally run Royal Purple 80W-90 gear oil, but any quality GL5 80W-90 gear oil would do :thumb:.

Again, the TrueTracs don't need special additives :).

I run them front and rear in my daily driver and been very happy with them. I run 33x12.5 toyo Mt's on steel wheels and stock d30 and d35. I have ran TSF, Naches, Manatash and Walker Valley. I've been on Airplane hill and did very well. I just ran Walker Valley and never pulled cable on any part.
