Early style bronco axles

I have an 87 JY. I also have access to a couple of early broncos. The little square ones. Each of which are equipped with ford nine inch rears and DANA 44 fronts. The major differences are that the rear is factory SOA and the front is coil suspension. My question(s) are would these axles be a good swap? If so...would it be easier to convert the front to SOA, or try and keep the coils?!? or mount the jeep to the bronco frame and keep it all?!?!

JY....never heard of that one. Sounds pretty rare...you better hold on to that one. :D

Ya it would make a good swap. I would go SOA but the chances of you being able to use the stock bronco spring perches are pretty slim. You have to take into account pinion angle and width between the springs. What I would do is just shave off all the brackets on the D44 and 9" and weld on all new brackets. Just be sure that when you do the front spring perches that you keep them at the same angle as the coil spring mounts so your pinion angle doesn't change when you install it.
