Rear Shock Mount Bushing & Bar Pin Eliminator
So at 15k miles on my ride, and during a weekend road trip out of state - I discovered a loud squeak from the drivers side rear suspension area. Upon inspection, I can see that the bushing that holds the top of the driver side rear shock has worked its way out of for the most part - and it looks like there's a slight metal-on-metal rubbing that is making the squeak sound I heard.

So - my initial reaction was to email the mfr of my lift/suspension setup & ask for new bushings. But, then I saw something called a "Bar Pin Eliminator"...curious as to others thoughts/experiences? I am debating on just changing the bushing out - or doing that swap out. Either way it's under $20 to repair - just trying to figure out which is best & will prevent having to address this again down the road. Thanks.

Both Rough Country And JKS make bar pin eliminator. The RC version is cheap and functional, the JKS version is well engineered and more pricey.

So it's worth making the swap? I guess I just want to make sure it truly works as intended & is an improvement over the stock mechanism...

Go to their websites and check them out. They will prevent the bushing from riding out of the shock eyelet.

BPE are the best choice when replacing factory shocks. Get rid of the whole bar pin, they slide left and right every bump you hit. You can clearly hear a rattle coming from the bar pins. Purchased Bilstein 5100 Series shocks, took out the barpin/bushing. Replaced the bushings with Engery Suspention bushings [Manufacture Part #9.8107R] (Universal Shock Eyes, Standard Hourglass Shaped Style ID 5/8 in. L-1 7/16 in.) fit perfectly. Then installed JKS Front and Rear BPE (Front PN 9603) (Rear PN 9604). The shocks have no room for traveling left to right one the bar pins anymore. The BPE squeeze the bushings to ensure there is no left to right movement. Got rid of the rattling immediately. Any questions on installation feel free to ask.. Time consuming, but a very simple install.

I was just doing some weekend off-roading on the weekend up in Santa Ynez peak, nothing too serious and I blew out the passenger side Rear shock bushing bar pin! Damn it! I'm so tired of every time I go out on a basic trail excursion, I have suspension issues!
I like the idea of what you're talking about, but I'm a newbie and I'm not exactly sure without pics what it is I'd be doing. Can I still use my perfectly working RE shocks? Or is this a mod with only a different kind of shock.
I've got to make up my mind tonight, because I'm supposed to take my Jeep into the Service tomorrow to get the shock put back in.
