So I am getting ready to go SOA on my jeep. My jeep currently has a 2" (I believe) transfer case drop on it now. I have a slip yoke eliminator that I plan on installing with the SOA. I will be using a XJ front driveshaft, getting it cut and turned and using it in the rear. I will be using 2.5 inch OME springs. Will I need to keep the transfer case drop or can I remove it? I would really love to get rid of it and get my skid plate tucked back up where it is supposed to be. I was told by a shop here that I will need to keep it in place. They told me it would mess up my driveline angles to remove it. Is the XJ cv driveshaft not able to handle this angle? Would I be better off getting a Tom Woods shaft? I am also replacing my D35 with an 8.8 if that is important.

With all the changes the slip yoke shaft will not be real good and yes when all the parts are in place call Tom Woods and get what you need. With all that lift and flex the slip yoke shaft will soon depart while out trailin and you really need a double cardan shaft custom made to your length. Pinion angle is going to be the key so go by the Tom Wood site on the home page halway down on the right grey box technical discussions I belive they have all you ever wanted to know about drivelines and pinion angles.

Basically your gonna have exactly what I have on RJ. What size rubber are you gonna run? I am way above 36's right now and could still clear them if I took my 1 inch BL and shackles off. The only way your gonna get the case drop out of it is to use a 1350 fixed yoke on the transfer case and angle the rearend up. A CV will work but to get one that will is gonna cost way too much money and they wont last worth sh!t. A standard 2 joint shaft is what I run on everything. Hope this helps.

I am currently running 35's so I am going to stick with those. I removed my body lift and have stock shackles. I got the XJ shaft from a junkyard for cheap. That is what I was told ppl run with their SOAs. Is it CV or standard 2 joint. I'm not too familiar with that. It looks like I am going to have to keep the TC drop though.

the dropped transfer case will reduce the angles even if you don't have to have it dropped which will make your u joints last longer
