is your JK your daily driver?
how far is your commute? Let' hear some of your stories on the road..

Use to be 60 miles round trip for me. First week woth the rig i had the top down crusing on the e- way and i get a lil present on my lap from a bird with oustanding aim......... SPLAT!!!!

Now im at 16 round trip and cant enjoy the long ride with the top down....

whetstone 10-12-2012 03:52 PM

3 miles :)

scuba_steve 10-12-2012 04:03 PM is my DD...and jeeps have been for a couple of dozen years. Screw comfort. ;)

Current commute, 8 miles...takes about 12 to 15 minutes...and I do it in an auto trans. Life is good.

Have driven further...and in worse traffic. Probably the worst was a 12 mile commute that took an stop and go a manual. Life sucked.

jpstoner 10-12-2012 04:04 PM

Wow. A short commute is kind of nice at times. 10 miles one way for me. But I get to enjoy the top being off because when you leave downtown a 10 mile trip turns into 30 minutes. No funny stories, just lots of relaxing when cruising at about 20 mph on the interstate.

Strokerswild 10-12-2012 04:05 PM

10 miles each way.

Not much interesting happens other than the occasional deer scaring the hell out of you.

rics1997 10-12-2012 04:06 PM

on;y vehicle I own so yes

BigManAndy 10-12-2012 04:07 PM

4 miles each way, 3 of which are spent on the highway. Door to door takes about 7 minutes. Kinda sucks when it's topless weather since the drive it so short. I make it worth while by taking the long way home.

Round trip? That just might be shorter than mine.:)

4DoorCrush 10-12-2012 04:10 PM

No wife drives my jeep and drive my soul. Her trio to work 3 miles round trip. Mine 75 mile round trip

Vladivar 10-12-2012 04:12 PM

My commute is a 1 minute walk from my bedroom to my home office - so screw the gas mileage :D:dance:

kbwwolf 10-12-2012 04:12 PM

No commute. I work from home. And in warmer months I've got a couple motorcycles to run around on.

Mody n Domy 10-12-2012 04:13 PM

Seven more 52 mile round trips to work then its off to retirement towing it behind our Motor Home full time RVing. Thirty eight years is enough cant wait to get out west to do some off roading and see this great land of ours. I would like to thank all who have served and died for this great land that gives us the freedom to do that.

Blastek 10-12-2012 04:13 PM

i'm at 50 miles round trip. usually takes about an hour one way. i have the option of a door-to-door train that takes the same amount of time and costs less, but i can't stop driving the darn jeep. maybe now that the weather sucks i'll be able to force myself to take the train.

panthermark 10-12-2012 04:20 PM

It will and will not be....

4.8 miles from driveway to parking lot.

90% of the time I drive my old Intergra or my motorcycle to work or to the store. But I need a vehicle that can haul/tow up to a medium sized load, and can get me through the winter. That is what the Liberty is for...and is why I only drive it when I need it.

So why am I replacing a perfectly fine 6 year old Liberty which had 19,907 miles on it when I purchased it from CarMax 4 1/2 years ago, and has 36,697 miles on it when I took it to them for an appraisal this morning?

Because I've ALWAYS wanted a Wrangler. Even if the price tag is through the roof.

I probably should have kept the Libby, and traded in the old Integra on a 2 door, 6 speed Wrangler and used that as my daily driver, but I didn't trust the JOG/clutch/parking brake issues in the manuals.

stans1stjeep 10-12-2012 04:20 PM

4 miles to my daughter's house. Put the grand daughters on the school bus, then back home for breakfast.

What kind of bikes??

SouthTJ 10-12-2012 04:32 PM

DD and about 4 miles each way all on two lane roads. Rarely get over 40mph and on the weekends usually driving the wife's LR3.

travis29 10-12-2012 04:36 PM

Jeeze 8 miles takes me 30 min.....

enjerhoo 10-12-2012 04:41 PM

26 miles & 2,600 feet down one way to the office.
Through the woods, down the hill but not quite over the river.
Closest groc. store is 18 miles away.
Closest parts shop is 19 miles away.
About 35 mins to the office depending on I40 traffic through the canyon.

Just hit 10K. Had the Jeep since May. Love it.
Best vehicle choice for fun since the 68 Mustang. 10-12-2012 04:47 PM

70 miles round trip. MPGs are horrid but I don't care. If I'm not in my JK I'm on the bike, but I am much more in love with my JK.

Bought mine on 01/26/12 and have 15,389 miles on it. I drive the heck out of it. I hate switching with the wife and driving her GC Summit. I end up missing my JK.

I tell everyone no matter how bad a day I have had I smile every time my butt hits the seat. Only vehicle I have owned that I can say that about.

Incognito 10-12-2012 04:47 PM

11 miles one way, 98% highway, takes (usually) 12-15 minutes four days a week. If traffic is backed up I take an alternate route which is only 8 miles, but there's like 20 traffic lights on it. That one takes 20-30 minutes depending on volume.

2.5 years since bought and it's at 20,800 miles

Average MPG 21.9-22.1

steve66 10-12-2012 04:48 PM

2.3 miles one way, i bought my Jeep in April, just rolled over 1700 miles, I never get to drive the Damn thing!

57Wrangler 10-12-2012 04:50 PM

The new jeep will be my commuter (all 6 miles of it), when it's too snowy to ride my bikes.:thumb:

i8guitar 10-12-2012 04:52 PM

10.6 miles in 18 minutes...according to Google, but it's more like 23 minutes. Not that I am timing it haha

PhotoWrangler 10-12-2012 04:53 PM

54 miles round trip. Takes me just shy of 30 minutes each way depending on traffic, which could mean I'll be there for 45 or more depending on the day/time.

Before I moved to Houston, my commute was 46.3 miles one way... which is why I had the Soul. I put 38K miles on that car in a little less than 18 months.

CTRubicon 10-12-2012 05:52 PM

Winter Car -- so, October/Novemberish -- Marchish.
10 miles each way to work ---
Lot's of road trips & dog carrier.

Kelsey73 10-12-2012 06:24 PM

15 mins from my house to my chair at the office. I think its around 9 miles each way. I use the JKU for road trips too. Making a trip from MD to MN this winter. :D

Panther57 10-12-2012 06:33 PM

I love driving my JK everyday ... in Michigan, you need something like a Wrangler that is great in the summer with the doors and top off, and also great in the winter with the hard top and 4-wheel drive.

I hafta admit my 04 TJ was more fun to drive, but the JK is WAAAAY more comfortable to drive everyday. BTW, my commute is 5 miles one way, but I drive my sons to practices and games 3-4 times a week.

LEATHERFACE33 10-12-2012 06:36 PM

11.2 miles to the office.... 40 minutes in and 1 hour home. Gotta love NYC traffic! Miiinnnggg!
