Building a exact replica TJ
So 4 years ago we as in my wife and I made a decision to sell "the Jeep"...SMH yea i know :banghead: Well it turns out the other day i was in the gas station and there was a mildly lifted TJ there. Soon after i see it, the sound of the starter kicked and mild growl of what could only be the exact dynomax exhuast i had on mine came alive. That did it for me went home and told the wife about the flashback and instantly she said lets get another one! (hence one of the many reasons i married her!) so with that being said i began my search!:thumb: Not even a full month later i found a few that i was interested in, and one i was going to buy got sold out from under me. So after being majorly bummed out about it, we almost went for another one, her being sold on the color of it and myself not feeling that instant love we became on the fence about that one also. Ok so now i was feeling like giving up and looking again in the spring. Then it happened i saw one that seemed to good to be true! The price was more then right the options were dead on and so it turns out the color was the same as my previous one! So without hesitation i call up the bank and lock down the funds, having only made contact with the seller once i now had to wait the very long weekend to hear from him again! apparently he was on a trip and had no service while out there. Now this is feeling scammy to me and getting seriously bummed again. I must have called this guy about 40-50 times over the past three days! We spoke about meeting up but didnt lock any plans and the jeep was still listed as for sale! Its killing me at this point to not be able to lock something down with this guy. The jeep was located about 7 hours from me and i was so paranoid that he was going to sell it locally! So finally after another 2 days and Bam! i got him on the phone and he tells me a time and place. Im so relived and nervous at the same time that after all this it was going to be a compolete bomb and not at all like the pics which were not that great to begin with. But i had done my reasearch and knew what it was worth. So anyway i show up and he shows an hour late.. which was also adding to my nervousness, but as he rolled up man i knew it was the one and boy was i relived! It wasnt cleaned and it wasnt preped up...just delivered and some how that made me feel even better about it. Knowing what i was looking at i knew it had major potential just needed to be cleaned up a bit and throughly gone through. So after chewing him down another $500 that turned out to be icing on the cake! i drove away with what is now a all to familiar friend!!!

So it begins another jeep build slightly diffrent then the first one yet almost exactly the same!

thats cool how you made your old jeep outta some one elses, but you should think about getting rid of that big(2"+) BL for a small Spring lift and a 1 or 1.25" BL.

Irongrave 10-19-2012 09:29 AM

where in NJ are ya?

endlesshydro 10-19-2012 09:30 AM

Yea agree about the BL.. however i am local to the pines and we just have water water and more water... my old jeep had a 3" BL and that was excessive this one has a 2" so its a tad calmer.. my old jeep had a acutal bildge pump on the floor.. started out as a joke but actually came in handy!

endlesshydro 10-19-2012 09:50 AM

Yea i wouldnt mind mixing it up with some other local jeepers, however i have a 1yr old now which limits my trips well at least till next year when i will be more comfortable taking her with me :D

Well its not exact replica any more but it's heading in the exact direction i wanted my old one to go!

vtjohn 11-13-2012 08:18 AM

Is that rear license plate trimmed on the right hand side? Like the look of how you have it mounted, but if it is trimmed I couldn't do that here in Va. Like your build so far!

endlesshydro 11-13-2012 08:25 AM

Thanks! No not trimmed folded over... Technically it's a no no... but im gonna run it till i get a complaint...:surrender:

Next up is winshield mounted Kc's and rock guards for all the lights..

hmiller 11-13-2012 08:40 AM

The Hoop with the lights on it?> its welded on..

BeerMan 11-13-2012 10:16 AM

Nice!! Which LED tail lights are those? And, how much, if you don't mind me asking? I'm on my 3rd set of the brittle crappy OEM tail lights and dying to do this mod.

MarkNog 11-13-2012 11:37 AM

Your disconnects are not on properly.

I don't have a picture of mine, but it shows the hoop over the sway bar end. Nice jeep though.

I had these exact ones on my first jeep never gave me a problem and there super cheap to boot!

i get them from here, walmart sells them to but here is cheaper...

buy a 4 1/2" hole saw from lowes or home depot, or a air saw...

endlesshydro 11-28-2012 07:35 AM

So finally got the Viair system, installed it last weekend, wasnt crazy about the mounting location but it has its perks, my old setup was on the fender well and that seemed to hinder rear seat space. Which was never an issue however this year were rolling with a babyseat and more gear for the baby then for recovery!

The Benifits of the mounting position (even tho it looks like i took the easy road) are

The drain on the tank is easy to get to and actually drain cause it hangs over some dead space.

The pump is off the floor away from any possible water intrusion

I get to keep the speaker box. (more on this below)

The Pump should stay a bit cooler.

Access to the tank is extremely easy.

Ok so the deal with the speakerbox... It was in the truck when i bought it, never a mod i would do in a jeep however it was already there and i have been enjoying it more then i thought i would. So to make it more senceable i removed one of the subs it was making a crackling noise anyway, that exposed a decent size void in the box. So now i will close up the big hole where the speaker was and cut a door into the back of that side of the box. Creating a small tool box or equiptment storage box! Pics to come soon.. as this idea is still in the planning stages.

The Power switch and air pressure gauge is mounted in the dash top pod... Must say i like the position, but the fit and finish of the dash pod is less then desireable. same goes for the pillar pod gauge pod (not pictured)

endlesshydro 11-28-2012 07:44 AM

Also installed "black rock" center hub covers.. really cleaned up the look of the wheels, not sure why these were not on there before...

Also funny side note, the covers say BLACK ROCK and below that it says Made in The USA all stamped in the steel.. then on the inside of the cover there is a sticker that says "made in china" WTF!! LMFAO
