UPGRADED to a TJ

Howdy Jeepers,
So i got me a 60th aniversery edition TJ and I love it! I also bought a 14' camper trailer i want to pull with my TJ. Does anyone have any advice or tips for a new jeep tower....lol

Thx,

You're gonna be pushing it towing(or should I say stopping) that trailer. I tow an 18ft bowrider with mine. I have to keep plenty of distance and go slow to the lake.

We towed popup campers for years with our TJ. The short wheelbase makes the trailer have more leverage on your Jeep and can make for some interesting handling. If you are heading downhill on winding roads, a dip in the road in the middle of a corner may turn the moment into a white knuckle affair.

Follow trailer loading recommendations. It's absolutely necessary to have over 50% of your trailers weight ahead of it's axle or you will discover another not so fun experience of "tail waggin' the dog".

Your TJ has a maximum frontal area of trailer for towing, and only popup or flatbed type trailers are recommended. Trailers over 1000lbs need brakes according to the TJ manual.

I've seen TJs towing just about everything over the years and I'm sure most folks that stretch the limits of their vehicle never have a problem. The more you tow, the more careful you will be.

Welcome!
