New guy with a clutch question

Hello everyone... New here to the forum. Im not new to forums in general though so i do know to use the search bar before posting redundant questions. My jeep is a 2002 wrangler sport, it was a deal we couldnt pass up. I knew when we purchased it that the clutch was going to need to be replaced, it would rattle coming out of first and rattled even more when in neutral with the clutch out. So we just got a new clutch kit installed along with a new slave cylinder and a tranny flush with redline and now its as quiet as a mouse. My question is about the clutch engagement point... how close to the floor should it be? I read a lot of mixed reviews on this, the clutch originally would engage about the half way point up from the floor, now its about an inch off the floor. I just need to make sure I dont need to take the jeep back into shop and have them do some work thats not necessary and complain about somethings thats not their fault... the new clutch definitely feels softer than the original.

Cheers!

What brand clutch did you get?

The hydraulic clutch system is not adjustable, and there's nothing done during a clutch installation job that has any effect on where in the clutch pedal travel that the clutch engages. Different clutch brands can feel different due to different pressure plate designs, there is probably nothing wrong with your clutch if it is otherwise working and engaging properly.

Its not the LUK OEM kit that everyone recommends, it was some other aftermarket clutch kit that was around $250, Ill have to double check the paperwork. Its just weird to me that the clutch engages so close to the floor and feels that much softer. I've never driven a vehicle that engaged that low... but yes everything works and sounds proper so I guess thats just what it is now? nothing to be concerned about? I'm just glad all the noise is gone really...

yep... the last jeep we had was an auto so the whole noisy tranny thing is new to us, but its way more fun driving a stick jeep... so the noise we will have to cope with, thanks for the input!

My jeep engages the clutch about midway from the floor to the end of its travel, it's a new clutch only 10,000 miles on it. My buddy's engages more towards the end of travel, his I'm guessing is the original with around 120,000 miles.
