Did you make it, or are you going today (Monday)? I would be up for this coming Saturday if you didn't make it and would like to try again.

Have you been on this trail before and would a stock JKU Altitude have any issues?

Dang, I would be down this weekend, but I've got some busy plans... I was thinking about hitting it tomorrow afternoon...

Don't know if my plans are going to allow me to do so, but it'd be a blast I think. If you're up there, look for a yellow jeep with a hard top and some flares..

Havent been there but heres another review.

Trail report 5/16/2010. I wouldn't call it "easy" as the author describes it. It is certainly not a super technical trail, it does have its own particular challenges. Most notably, it is VERY steep much of the way. There are some parts where the road is basically a pile of loose rock and with the steep grade, it will be a challenge for vehicles without a wide tire footprint, low gears, and lockers wouldn't hurt either. Example I passed a stock Jeep Liberty on the back side (north side) going down and he could not make it up a certain part of the trail because of the grade and the loose rock, just kept spinning tires are flinging rocks all over. Of course that was with stock street tires and stock gearing. But because of that, I would move the trail out of the "easy" category.

There were also a handful of places where there were some deep ruts that will probably do some scraping on stock vehicles. There isn't anything too agressive, but I would avise larger tires and lift if you want to completely avoid bruising your rig (but that's part of the fun right?)

The trail is absolutley beautiful with great views of the Vegas valley and the Spring Mountains. We did it in an afternoon, but could easily have spent the whole day with stops for hikes and lunch. Very close to Las Vegas. Highly recommended.

I drive a 2000 Jeep Wrangler with 33" tires, 3" lift, 4.56 gears and front and rear lockers. Made it through the whole trail without a problem

Angel Peak November 10, 2012

Actually did the Angel Peak Trail today with a co-worker and a friend. Had a blast! Made it all the way in a stock Altitude with no lift and 32" tires, would definitely have preferred to have some lift and larger and wider tires but our stock Jeep was capable. Most definitely there were steep sections, it seemed like they lasted forever. Saw 6-8 deer once we got to the top and then as we started to come down the paved portion we found that the Youth Camp gates were locked forcing us to come down the other side that followed another run of power lines all the way down to the 95. This was the most enjoyable wheeling trip since we bought the jeep three months ago. Highly recommend this trail. 6 hours round trip with a few stops and a minor detour because we chose the wrong trail in the beginning.:thumb:
