Personally I like to wear the mud as a badge of honor, but my parents hate it because the mud fall on the concrete in the compound

blueskiesbill 11-07-2012 06:02 PM

Compound? Are you part of a cult?! ;-)

IMO a clean jeep is a dirty jeep and a dirty jeep is a clean jeep. Although a dirty underside on the jeep is a jeep waiting to break, so I usually hit up a Fire Dept to use their hose or a do it urself car wash to spray off the underside.

IWANNAOFFROAD 11-07-2012 06:07 PM

lol no. I live at the end of the street so we have an extra drive way which we build a gate. Lol maybe a Jeep cult

Zurn 11-07-2012 06:10 PM

What is this wash thing you speak of?

baker3 11-07-2012 06:49 PM

Lol thats what I thought

Moabrubi 11-07-2012 07:27 PM

I wash mine the day after I go wheeling. I don't mind getting it dirty but leaving it dirty to look cool is just dumb. I usually end up washing it once a week, I love how shiny it is when its clean.

Exactly... wash and grease within 24 hours!!!!

CarolinaBound 11-07-2012 08:11 PM

I usually get back from wheeling late in the summer at least. Give it one day, two at most. Depends how lazy/busy I am.

xxximpact05 11-07-2012 08:17 PM

I wear it till I can't see out of my mirrors anymore

JDsDream 11-07-2012 08:18 PM

Mud on the body is okay (to each his own) but dried mud on the suspension, wheels and brakes is definitely not. If I don't feel like washing it immediately after playing in the goo, I park it over the lawn sprinkler to get the mud off the important parts.

Wash it, clean it, make it look like you care about it.

BLK00TJ 11-07-2012 08:24 PM

I wash as soon as I can after wheeling.

jeepsrgreat 11-07-2012 08:25 PM

I wash as soon as possible. The mud washes off easier when it's still wet.The mud causes premature wear on everything. While washing is the best time to notice any damage from the day.

doclouie 11-07-2012 08:29 PM

I always wash it, but it might take me a month or so to get around to doing it.

monkeee2002 11-07-2012 10:43 PM

Leaving mud in the undercarriage is a great way to trap moisture, and promote rust.
I always clean everything off within 24 hours.

JReed615 11-07-2012 10:45 PM

I leave the mud on the jeep for at least 24 hours but no more than 48 hours. I always make sure I thoroughly wash it (especially the undercarriage), since mud is abrasive to metal

MME 11-07-2012 10:55 PM

usually takes me about a week to get around to wash the mud off.

DeJeeps 11-07-2012 11:35 PM

Try to get mine off within 48 hours. Too much moisture here in Washington. Great idea about the sprinkler used on the undercarriage!

97wrangler-242 11-08-2012 12:13 AM

I like to wear mine for a few days but it does eventually get washed

JeepandMud 11-08-2012 12:13 AM

I take mine in to the self serve usually the next day if I don't have anything to do. Otherwise it's usually picture time right after the mud trail, then off to the car wash. My fiance tries to get me to wash it more frequently, but since it's going to be parked till next June, I can from time to time get him to take it over so I can wash it :). Don't like going more than 2 days without washing it especially if it's really muddy. Harder to clean and more quarters

Gunner 11-08-2012 12:31 AM

Wash and wax. I want this thing to last and look good doing it.

That's how I am right now. Had Jamboree last weekend, but it's been too cold and I've been too busy to get out there and wash it. Supposed to be 75 on Saturday, 77 on Sunday, so it'll get cleaned up with the pressure washer first, then washed this weekend.

And it is needing a coat of wax or two. :)

Some Farkin Guy 11-08-2012 07:54 PM

I always at least clean the undercarriage after a few days. When I do wash the body I spray off the majority and then take it through an auto car wash. The soft top has no issues with the water spraying but I always wait until those huge dryers shut off before pulling out.

Great idea with the sprinkler!

wranglermatt4527 11-08-2012 09:43 PM

I wash it as soon as I get close to home... Theres no way to get to my house with out passing the carwash with the high pressure nozzles. It pisses the manager there off but Ive told him 10-15 times, mud will wash away over time. I do like the sprinkler idea... I may steal that next wash.

Xavierss 11-08-2012 09:53 PM

I have to wash it, at least the coilovers became they don't like the mud

Dusty Rhodes 11-08-2012 11:01 PM

Missouri/Oklahoma red clay mud dries so hard you need a hammer & chisel to get it off. So I wash it off as soon as I can.

Jwolfer 11-08-2012 11:44 PM

As someone living in Arizona I don't understand what this mud thing is you all keep referencing.

wmwhitey 11-08-2012 11:46 PM

I washed mine the same or next day when I was in Lejeune. Just don't use an E-Tool to knock the mud off your fenders
