Plug n Play CB kit?

I don't know anything about cb radios except that the more I read the more I realize I don't know. Can anyone recommend a good setup? I'm just looking for trail use not trying to reach across country. Thanks in advance.

I've got a Cobra 75WXST and I like it a lot.

Uniden Bearcat 680 is a good little radio. If you have a Love's truckstop near you. They are on sale, regular price $99, now at $69 plus a $10 rebate brings it down to $59.

And the Uniden 505XL would be a good trail radio, it's about $35

I have the Cobra 29 WXNWST, It's been mod'ed for talking long distance but it's over kill on the trail.

Perfect thank you. Now what's the deal with how many feet of cable and how you run it and tuning your antenna lol

Most of the cables will come in 18 ft lengths. Excess can be zip-tied in lengths (not coiled). When you order your stuff, get an SWR meter for tuning. It should only run about $10.

Most use 18' of coaxle ant cable, just coil it loosley and stash it out of the way (under a seat). I run a 5.5' Francis Hot Rod antenna, they are cheap but very good. I have a antenna mount bolted to the right side of my rear bumper. It would be best to have a CB shop, peak/tune and set your SWRs.

Thanks. Is a 3ft firestik mounted using passenger taillight mount a good idea?

It is a great idea if you don't mind drilling into that body for that extra hole. Some people say it's needed because without it, the mount is flimsy. Other's just say it's not necesary. I personally don't like to gamble my luck much so I would rather go for a Arizona Rocky Road cb antenna mount. My cb of choice is a Cobra 29 with an overhead mount. Right Channel Radios have good selections on cb kits that will let you hit the ground running. :thumb:
