A buddy of mine is offering to sell me 4 2'' shackel lifts off his YJ for $50. He says he only used them for a year, and they still work great. Would this be a good option for me as I am looking for a lift so that I can add largers tires to my YJ. Was hoping to put something in the 31' range for tires for it. Not real fimiliar with shackel lifts, or lift options in general. Still a newbe with my wrangler. Any advice you can dish out would be great.

that is the most common first step on a yj. its a good cheap way to make 31" tires fit nicely with a little room. you'll most likely sell them in a year or so and move up to new springs or spring over. you can buy them new for close to $50 a set though plus shipping

the first thing i did when i got my yj was to put a 2in shackle lift on and i was able to run 31s no problem but the made my leaf springs almost flat that ws the only bad thing about a 2in lift.

i have a 2 incher on mine as well, i have a 93 yj, it looks pretty good. i put 33's on afterwards. then i put the 3'' body lift on it now i am running 35'' baja claws. thats a cheap way to go for a nice looking lift.

^thats a lot of body lift, especially for a yj. shackles shouldn't be a permanent thing. they put extra stress on the front of springs, and change the suspension geometry. they're great for a first mod. next step is suspension work
