Waiting for Dune

Hey, everyone. I gotta tell ya, if 'Dune' looks anything like this then I'm pulling the trigger and ordering as soon as it opens. That's BA

I'm just trying to decide between ordering Billet, waiting to see Dune, or finding a Crush with my options (since I can't order that anymore).

So, how many of you guys are dying to find out what 'Dune' looks like before you order??

ltsrapcon 11-17-2012 07:37 PM

I thing the Dunes look great when they are done up with military garb

That photo shop looks perfect....if it looks that good I will prob go that route:punk:

Picture from 2013 accessories catalog. Dune with Sahara wheels that have darker center. It's hard to tell with pic but its a peach looking color.

Dune looks awful in that pic. A mix of peanut butter and gold.

StumpMT 11-23-2012 12:10 PM

If that's a true to life picture then I'm definitely going with billet. Hopefully it looks more like the first picture.

StumpMT 11-23-2012 12:16 PM

Perhaps they'll have a dune-colored Wrangler at the LA Auto Show that begins at the end of the month?

chavis3 11-23-2012 02:46 PM

I'm pretty sure the Sand Trooper concept JK Mopar had at SEMA is the dune color. Looks pretty sweet but not as great as Sahara Tan IMO.

The Sand Trooper was in matte. I'm not sure if production Dune will be in matte.

How hard would it be to have a production paint color be matte?

It has been pretty difficult for some reason. I'm not sure why. In a recent article, Jeep said they finally figured out how to do matte, but I'm not sure if Dune will be in matte.

StumpMT 11-23-2012 03:45 PM

We can only hope. Personally I think all of the military-type colors would look great in matte ie commando green, dune, anvil (if it's the Navy gray that I'm thinking of), and possibly even billet.

GoldenSahara00 11-23-2012 03:50 PM

First picture looks really good, close to the old Desert Sand :thumb:

JasonP 11-23-2012 04:09 PM

I know I'm waiting. Almost pulled the trigger on Commando Green... but Dune is too tempting.

KittyPrawn 11-23-2012 04:12 PM

I'm pretty sure the SEMA one was the Dune color that will be in production. But, even if this is matte, and Dune won't be... I don't think the color will be much different. I'm sure it'll just have a clear coat added. I don't think it's metallic or pearl.

I've seen those pics and that color is pretty sexy IMO.

JasonP 11-23-2012 05:07 PM

If it looks close enough to that sema version, i'm pulling the trigger

Strokerswild 11-23-2012 05:18 PM

I wish some of these colors like Dune were metallics. My '99 was Desert Sand, which was a great color since it was metallic. I miss that color (and the Jeep) and wish you could get it now.

Yeah that is a pretty nice color... You could always rattle can your new jeep :thumb:

I'm in the market for a 2013 and I've been following and collecting all info and images of Dune myself, I can't wait to see it in person! The SEMA pics are deceiving because of the way the fluorescent lights change the color at different angles, it's like my friends Commando, you can walk around that thing in a parking spot and you can see a dozen different shades of green. I think Dune is going to be the same way...

I'm really looking forward to seeing this color.

Dune is allegedely going into production on 12/06 if I read the 2013 JK thread correctly? At the rate my dealerships are dragging their feet, I may wait as I was going to go DCR. 2 weeks away. If it is not on the lot, mine don't seem to care.

Yeah, 12/6 is when it was originally--from what I've been reading--supposed to go into production. But if that was case then I think we would've been able to place orders for it already.

Oddly enough, when I inquired about Crush, I was told it was not on option about a week before that color ended production.

KittyPrawn 11-23-2012 09:41 PM

I believe Pat has mentioned that the date for Dune was delayed so that the Moab edition could be made in Crush and Dozer.

Yeah it's been delayed to continue production on a few of the other skittles colors for the MOAB edition hopefully we can get a sneak peak before then....

panthermark 11-24-2012 04:14 PM

My guess is that you won't see Dune on the lots until late January. Once production starts, it will take a couple of weeks for them to hit dealer lots....but someone may be able get a picture of Dune earlier at the Jeep holding lot.

StumpMT 11-24-2012 04:40 PM

Say someone placed an order for a Dune Wrangler when the order banks first opened up. If the color turns out to be crappy then could that person place an order for a different colored Wrangler with no obligation to pay for the first one?
