To My Wrangler Forum Family of Friends

Some of you have been wondering where I’ve been. It appears I have ruptured a disk in my back. I should be hearing from a Neurosurgeon today. Looks like I won't be able to do anything but have back surgury at this point. It’s affected my entire left side of my body; which is numb. My chiropractor told me he’s never seen a rupture this bad. Just my luck right? I never do anything half mass! :nonono:

For all of you who know me, you know I WILL BE DYING not being able to wheel for a while. Just got my Rock Hard sliders put on too! Tummy tuck and steering box skid are going on Saturday. I’m totally bummed about this, but I will be living vicariously through you all. As soon as I am able, I’ll be back on the trails. This will be just a little set back.

Go on lots of runs and post up pics! I want to see all the fun and silly times you guys are having! I will be there in spirit!
Lorie :wavey:

Speedy recovery!
Gute Besserung!

Gunner 11-28-2012 11:27 AM

I'll be praying for you Kiddo. I had a 15mm rupture and spinal stenosis. I am still in the saddle so don't let it get you down. We need you on the trails.
Bob

suicideking 11-28-2012 11:32 AM

That sucks Lorie! Hope they figure it all out.

They can rebuild you. Make you stronger, faster, better... :D

Hope it all works out for you Lorie. Be well, and heal fast.

Lore, I'm so sorry to hear this. I know you'll have a full recovery and be back on the trail before long. Just do EXACTLY what the Dr.s\Surgeons tell you too!! Don't try to rush it and let your body heal at it's own speed.

Keep positive, take advantage of the down time to catch up on reading and de-stressing.

I wish I lived closer, but if you get in a bind and need someone don't hesitate to give me a call. (I'll pm you my number) I'm not against a nice drive down the coast, I've made it many times to take Leo to the Vet there :)

Lisa

Thanks everyone..I'm a little freaked out. Don't like the idea of someone slicing my back open. Things can go wrong.

I'm more upset about not being able to wheel rather than all the pain I've been going through and still to come. Looks like I'll be spending my birthday and Xmas in bed. :nonono:

Who's bringing the Honey?! :D

Vicodin and Honey...sounds like a heck of a ride.

I H8RDS 11-28-2012 02:47 PM

That sounds like a painless combo. All I'll be missing is a Lava Lamp. :D

So the way I look at it, I can eat all the yummy food I love and not worry about my weight b/c I'll be losing it plus some in the hospital. There's always a bright side !

Lab Lover 11-28-2012 02:52 PM

Be sure you have a shot glass, from what I know of back surgery they won't let you lift more than 3-5 lbs for awhile and I'm not sure what a bottle of Honey weighs :D

I H8RDS 11-28-2012 02:55 PM

 :thumb: And maybe a straw?

I was just thinking I should have added a straw, lol. Great minds think alike :thumb:

I H8RDS 11-28-2012 03:21 PM

That may be a better idea Going in as opposed to after the fact. I'm a little freaked out about it all. Scary and I hate being "put under." It's like give me some good drugs before you put me out so I'm not freaked out. And I'll make sure they give me enough because I don't want to be one of those people who wake up half way through it. Not a happy camper right now. :(

The anesthesia they use now is great. After my knee surgery I woke up just like you normally do, no hazy or groggy feeling. They have gotten really good at using your weight and body type to calculate exactly how much of a dose to administer, just don't lie about your weight and you should be just fine. Lol

Maybe I should lie and tell them I weigh 30 pounds more so they'll give me extra.. just to be sure :D

And risk not waking up? Doh!!! I know you don't want to hear it, especially from me, but the two people you don't ever lie to are your attorney and your doctor. One keeps you free, the other keeps you alive.

You'll be fine. And if you come out paraplegic, we'll get you an auto trans and hand controls so you can get backing the trail. Lol.

Kind of missing you,

Robbie

WOKNROX 11-28-2012 04:08 PM

LOL thanks for the chuckle!

As for how...the only heavy lifting I've been doing is on base actually. A lot of student boxes/care packages when I do mail everyday. But, I'm not sure it was that. It's the only thing that make sense. I haven't done anything about it as of yet. Been trying to see through the pain.

As for leave..not good. I have like 2 weeks worth, so I'm screwed there. I'll go in the hole. Thank God for my RDO's every other week. (3 day weekends)

My neurologist just had a look at my MRI's. He immediately ordered me in his office tomorrow AM. The extusion is like 19 mm and I have spinal senosis as well..and some other big worded stuff. All I know is it's all bad and painful.

I miss my Jeep already :(

Sccafire 11-28-2012 05:16 PM

Sorry to hear about this. Hope you get well soon. Looks like the next Jeep upgrade will be some some really good suspension seats.

A bendy straw sticking out of a bottle of Honey. That's a picture worth taking.

530ktm 11-28-2012 05:36 PM

Well, I have not met you yet but I hope you whoop this back ailment quickly so you can get back out there and wheel. One of these days we will meet up. :thumb:

This little setback won't keep me down for long. We'll eventually cross trails..as long as they aren't fire roads

Thanks for all the well-wishing ..it makes things seem easier deal with :flowers:

Now remember, this is Lori we're thinking of so a regular bendy straw won't due. It must be one with all the loops and twists in it so it's more of a challenge :D:D

Ancientpath 11-28-2012 08:27 PM

Hey Lori, find some resident Doc and have fun with it :D "Gee Doc, I didn't know what I was doing,I mean, all the drugs and stuff ya know...." :whistling:

We've never met but get well soon and milk it all you can

Happy Trails :thumb:

pluke the 2 11-28-2012 08:53 PM

wish you luck girly.

we will see you soon!

minisaba 11-28-2012 09:22 PM

Hope you have a speedy recovery so that we(us that haven't met you...yet) can meet you soon at the trail of your choosing, so long as we can include that honey we all seem to like.

I H8RDS 11-28-2012 09:55 PM

Thanks guys! And Lisa! ==and that's so true

My chiropractor (who is my close friend) just came by and showed me my xrays. Holy $hit..it's a miracle I'm still walking..well actually gimping around. 16cm by 19mm. The inside of my disk has basically emptied into my spinal cord. If I can get a pic up tomorrow I will. It's pretty neat to see what actually is causing all the pain and soon the knife.

I'm looking forward to a speedy recovery so I can get back to what I love with my favorite people...Jeep People :) I will find out tomorrow when I get sliced open.
