Some of you have been wondering where I’ve been. It appears I have ruptured a disk in my back. I should be hearing from a Neurosurgeon today. Looks like I won't be able to do anything but have back surgury at this point. It’s affected my entire left side of my body; which is numb. My chiropractor told me he’s never seen a rupture this bad. Just my luck right? I never do anything half mass! :nonono:
For all of you who know me, you know I WILL BE DYING not being able to wheel for a while. Just got my Rock Hard sliders put on too! Tummy tuck and steering box skid are going on Saturday. I’m totally bummed about this, but I will be living vicariously through you all. As soon as I am able, I’ll be back on the trails. This will be just a little set back.
Go on lots of runs and post up pics! I want to see all the fun and silly times you guys are having! I will be there in spirit! Lorie :wavey:
That's right Parker, it's too bad we weren't there for longer. However, I see a future Ventura beach weekend coming perhaps next summer. Vanessa said she'd like to return with warmer weather or at least when it's not raining. We'll let you guys know and we'll make it a beach party.
I think you guys should stay at Emma Wood in your RV. It's right on the water and a couple miles from my place. We can stay at the beach or do whatever you want. First come first serve right now with plenty of room. Fires always allowed All us locals are just minutes away so we can really do whatever we like! Maybe January? Although, my birthday is fast approaching Dec 21st !
December is all booked up for us and January may be good depending on how December treats us $$. However, my birthday is on February 18th. Maybe that would be far enough from the holidays that most of us have had a chance to recover from it. This year my birthday falls on Presidents Day. unk: I get my birthday off from work this year!!
Great to hear your doing well and trails planned out for you in March.unk: Also great to be a part of this fantastic community support system from the Wrangler forum. Kudos to everyone.:thumb:
Back when I was a young kid (perhaps 10 to 15 years ago) and I first realized my birthday aligned with George Washington's Birthday I felt so special and honored.
I've cut my meds back to Ibuprophen only. I don't like taking stuff. I am going to try and walk around a little bit..maybe to go get a lotto ticket or something. Doctor encourages it (just so nobody starts lecturing me!) I can tell ya, it feels better than it did before the surgery!
Your a tuff one aren't you? When my Back went out I was a hurtin cowboy. They never did the surgery just 7 shots of steroids in the spine. You sound like you'll be rockin that jeeps new parts real soon. Don't think I will ever look at crab meat in the same way ever again. Lol

I'm thinking January..like your birthday timeframe. December is too soon and hard due to the holidays and February is too far away. March is Calico and WAY too far away. So, January seems right to me.
My daughters schedule changes in January and both she and her husband work will work some Saturdays. I watch Caleb for them, but he's easy and would love to go anywhere Papa goes. Just keep me posted on the date, I'll see what Mikes calendar looks like and what we can work out
We'd like to go. I am free every weekend except the weekend of the 19th. Debbie and I have been talking about a weekend of beach camping in the RV for a while now.
Any weekend is going to work for me. I think it's really going to come down to what works best for Parker and Lisa..and this is an open invite for anyone who'd like to be a part of it. I'll just be so happy to see my buddies I don't think I have ever gone so long in between visits (wheeling) I need my "friends fix".
It'd be fun to pick up that bean bag toss game, BBQ and camp right there on the ocean!
Thanks buddy! Altho it's only Wednesday and I feel like I need to do some things around the house. It doesn't take long before I'm quickly reminded my body isn't ready for it yet
BBQ and games at the beach sound awesome right now! If that date works for everyone else, all we need to do is pray for decent weather! That'll be a lot of fun! And you can't beat waking up to seagulls cryin', dolphins swimming, sealions bobbin up and down in the waves, the smell of the salt and waves crashing !

Hi Lori,
If you are interested in Homeopathic Medicine like I am, I use a patch that is working wonders on my back and so are others. No drugs. Nothing enters your body and no side effects. It was developed for the Navy Seals. If interested, I'll send you some free. They work in seconds. I'll PM you my number and if you want to talk about it give me a shout.
I hope that all goes well. I had the same surgery done in September 2011 by Dr. Amory in Oceanside, CA. I had shooting pains and numbness down my left leg and foot for nearly 6 months prior. My doctor kept giving me pain meds and telling me it would go away.
Finally I convinced him to have an MRI done and I was in surgery the next morning. My disc had exploded and was displaced by nearly 10mm. While they were in there, they cleaned up two additional discs.
I was up and walking the night I had surgery, and out of the hospital the next day. I will warn you that it takes a considerable amount of time to regain the feeling in your lower leg and foot. It took me nearly 6 months, and I still can just barely feel (after over a year) the outside half of my left foot.
Do everything they tell you, go to the physical therapist and you should be able to easily hit the trails by February.
I wish you the very best, and keep us posted!
Yes, the numbness is the very thing that still drives me crazy. It's a little less but by the feel of things, I'll be in the same boat as you were. It had gotten to the point to where I was standing over my desk at work bent over because I couldn't sit anymore. And once I went into the doctor, everything was ordered STAT. Before I knew it, I was put under and dreaming of rock crawling as I was coming out of surgery. No joke. I was disappointed I woke up lol
I'm 4 days out of surgery and I feel a lot better..and LOVE not being at work.
