Got a nice price for my 97 2.5 a few weeks ago and just picked up a 03 4.0 Freedom Edition. Now time to start making it my own..

Looking good! It must be nice to have a fresh canvas to work with.

As far as details, I get a few new ideas everytime I am on Wrangler Forum.
First thing I will get rid of is the Milk Jugs, then look into some tires. My 2.5 had some Kelly Safari TSR on it and I thought they were great. Only thing is, 31s are the biggest you can get in 15 inch rim. Looking at a small lift with 33s.. Not sure if I want to keep those wheels, maybe something in black. I have a little time to decide, my pockets are empty right now after getting it. Also, I like the look of the the hood louvers. Like I was saying, I got all kinds of plans. Just got to get some money in my jeep account.

31's are NOT the biggest you can put on 15" rims.

I run 33x12.5's on mine with no issue (of course my Jeep is lifted with susp and body lifts).

You can always paint the wheels black or get them powdercoated...

Sorry about that. I meant 31s are the the biggest the Kelly Safari TSR comes in for 15 inch wheel. I really like the way the Kelly tire performed and looked.
33s would be the biggest I would go with for drivabilty since I have the auto. What is the best combo to raise it up for 33s.

4'' suspension lift with 33's is the most common/popular. Best look for drive-ability. Dont get 31's, you'll want 33's. And most people are against body lifts. But 2.5'' suspension and a small body could also be a possibility. Just search the picture forum and find out what you like the best. Nice rig!

There are so many factors to determine what the best setup for you will be. How do you plan on using your jeep? I went with the zone 4.25 combo lift. I couldn't be happier with my setup for what I do right now and the price was right.

That's the same model I bought! Amazing jeep.

It will mainly be used as a 2nd vehicle. I plan on doing some camping next year, so I will be pulling a small pop up. I would be staying around a 3-4 hr radius, along with some light off-roading. Love the the look of a lift with 33s, just want to keep my drivabilty as close as stock as possible. Also it is a 4.0 auto with 3.73 gears. Dont want to regear either..

4cylToy 11-29-2012 07:16 PM

I have 4'' SJ lift with 33x12.5 and it drives great. Its my comuter from college. 80+ miles a week and no problems on the highway.

GaDude 11-30-2012 09:40 PM

Your jeep will already be very slow with a lift and 33's given your current gear ratio but as a second driver, livable if you are patient and don't mind riding in the slow lane. With pulling a trailer, it will be a snail and likely very unpleasant drive. You should also consider a re-gear and brake upgrade if you have your heart set on pulling a trailer with it. As far as a lift goes, since it doesn't sound like you will be wheeling too hard, I would suggest a small suspension lift with a 1" BL/MML. This would eliminate the extra costs of having to additionally buy extended brake lines,SYE, driveshaft etc. OME makes a great 2.5" kit. I am also very pleased with the way my Zone 4.25" combo (3" suspension, 1.25" BL) rides on and off road.
