Denver PD will be starting their hiring process in Jan. Check governmentjobs.com or their website. On their website you can sign up for email notification on when it starts so you don't miss it.

Why because it's Denver or law enforcement in The metro area in general?

Gov. Job period

jasongind 12-04-2012 02:33 PM

Me and 18 other white males & 2 white females just got hired on with Jefferson County Sheriff's Department as Deputies.

wanderlust 12-04-2012 02:38 PM

Sweet! Hopefully gov. Hiring will go back to who is qualified and not to meet some quota

It just send to depend on the agency. 787 took the written test, only 20 were hired.
Now to toot my own horn a little: I scored the highest on the written & was the overall #1 pick.

Wish I could help you out but even here with my company, we just had to let go of 3 people that had been with us for about 11 years due to all this budget crap!!

I understand. I can send my resume to anyone who would like it.

backcountryislife 12-20-2012 04:09 PM

What do you do?

I don't live down there, but I'm an estimator/ PM for a commercial construction company & I know a lot of folks, I'm also the one that hires/ fires for my company, but my skillset range I'm looking for is rather narrow generally. I'm about to start work on the west denver library though, and that will require some additional hands. It's a Davis bacon job, so it pays well... (30something an hour I believe depending on the trade)

I'd always rather pay someone in a circle of friends than some random guy.

I have done a lot of different things. I am currently working for a support role in real estate as an administrative assistant/helper/driver/go-for. Prior to this I worked for at&t Mobility in Retail Sales. Before that I worked at a nice brewery restaurant as a server. In my off time i have volunteered as a firefighter for coming up on 5 years and am certified in Firefighter I & II, EMT-B, Hazmat Ops and Awareness, Vehicle Rescue Operations, CPR, and Emergency Vehicle Operations Course. I have a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from University of Colorado.

Lakewood PD is accepting applications until Dec 31st. They require a bachelors degree so your good there. They also start out at $50k/year during The academy with a raise upon graduation, so over $50k/yr in 5 months, not bad.

ClayL 12-24-2012 08:28 PM

dude im looking as well, but all i know is wrenching since its all i've done and i honestly cant stand wrenching for a living anymore

If anyone can operate heavy equipment, you might give Rocky Mountain Excavating a call. We have jobs at Ft. Carson, Buckley AFB, Air Force Academy, and a few others I'm not sure of. Most of our jobs are Davis Bacon jobs as well. 303-841-0292.

I can't guarantee anything but it's worth a call.

We also have a concrete division.

Merry Christmas!!

If you guys can break into I.T. I just moved here 11 months ago but I've been able to pick and chose through many opportunities. The more advanced the better the pay obviously but there definitely seems to be plenty of tier 1 or 2 I.T. jobs if you have a couple years experience.

ClayL 12-26-2012 04:23 PM

I'm not massively computer savvy but I know more than most and always willing to learn, maybe il look into it since I was looking at getting back into school for computers

I started just like you. No formal education but knew enough from tinkering on computers. I started in a "help desk" type environment and then as you gain knowledge on the job you build your experience and can open the door for new opportunities. However, do get that degree. What I've noticed is this:

Degree will get you the interview
Experience will get you the job

But without the degree you likely won't get calls for higher-end I.T. jobs down the line. For example my bachelor is in Business Management and anything computer related is on the job experience.

Bump for anyone who knows of anything in the COS, DEN, or FT Collins areas

I definitely willing to work manual labor. I have minor construction experience, but am always willing to learn. I did theater in school and did set-building as a part of that.

Another bump from someone wanting to move to the Denver area.

I am a licensed CPA in Washington State. Almost all of my experience has been as a controller in the small company size of under 50 million with up to 150 employees. Mostly manufacturing light assembly with some job-cost experience in the control panel industry. Not a tax/audit CPA however I have been through many of each as the controller being taxed/audited.

Rather than expecting someone to find me a job, the name of any recruiter you use for accounting jobs would be great. I can reach out to them and get them a resume but knowing which agencies to start with would be helpful.

El Paso County Sheriff's department is hiring like crazy right now here in Colorado Springs. I just don't have the patience to deal with all the stupid people... Hope that helps!

New year, fresh budget, lots of hiring taking place...

Careers at Xcel Energy

On page 2, there's a Plant Specialist B opening in Boulder. There'll be competition, but if you've got decent skills and can pass the Edison Electrical Institute test (EEI), you've got a chance at it. Even entry level pays pretty decent and if you elect them, you have benefits on day one. Don't wait though, they just hired 20 people. Those postings won't be up forever...
