Tires Scrubbing Outside Wheel Wells When Flexing

What's going on guys, well I have this annoying issue when I flex not even to the max my tires end up rubbing against the outside wheel well area. What would be the best way to fix this? I'm unsure of the current lift height I bought my TJ as it is. Any help would be appreciated I will try to throw up some pics of the articulation to show you what it looks like thanks fellas.

Well in order to answer anything we would need to know what you have. Post pictures. What size tires do you have?

Little_Foxx 12-04-2012 06:48 AM

I will post pics as soon as I get off of work. Tire size is 285 75 16 like I said before unsure of the lift. Anyway to determine the lift size?

Sure there are measurements but more that likely people will be able to tell you the lift amount based on pictures and if the partucular component brand is evident.

Is the lift not tall enough to allow full articulation??? Should I invest in a better lift kit? Dont mean to bug you guys but it gets very annoying scrubbing going over simple stuff. Thanks for any help!

Looks like those are 31s. If your not lifted you could go with 2 inch coil spacers and gain the clearance. Even then you need to extend your bumpstops an inch and you'll be good to go.

A 285/75/16 is equivalent to a 33" tire. To run a 33 with full range of flex you need around 4" of lift. This can be a 4" lift kit (which can be more involved) or a 2-3" plus 1-1.25" body lift (simpler). You also need to address bumpstops. Do a search on 33's and you will find a lot of threads. There may no need to change out the current lift. I suspect all you need is a body lift and bumpstops.

Thanks Neil for the input, and with the other thread I had decided to ditch this old lift anyways because of it showing signs of heavy rust and such. But I agree I should've posted it all in this thread so there would be no running back and forth, error on my part. That's what happens when your a newb like me.....
