Hey guys, I'm heading back out with my son the 26th to the 29th. Looks like we will be staying at the Ironwoods again. I think we should hook up for some wheeling, I know I want another shot at the Blow Sand rocks, and check some other trails. I saw a creek crossing on youtube but have no idea where it is.

Fred1 12-05-2012 06:49 PM

Hey Gary, You know where to find us. That creek crossing is probably Coyote Canyon in the Anza Borrego State Park. You Tube Coyote Canyon or the 3rd crossing at Coyote Canyon. It's not what it used to be, the rangers rerouted it to take you around the tunnel of trees where the deep water was. There are 3 water crossings on that trail and a fun rock ladder beyond. We took Dan and Tamey up that Thanksgiving Day.

Let's go play in the creek Grant, pretty sure I can find your pad again. Great fun last time and looking forward to the return.

My son Jeremy will be with me this time. We get there early on the 26th and will be wheeling each day until the 29th.

Fred1 12-05-2012 07:41 PM

Roger that!!!

BRANDONT 12-05-2012 11:51 PM

Where's ironwoods at

hwy1rubi 12-06-2012 01:08 AM

Desert Ironwoods Motel, it is kind of across from Blow Sand and the Ranger Station.

Where will you be camping?

Hey Brandon. Just an update. Got my heap back today. 11 days not driving my Jeep was making me nuts. But I'm much better now. Lol

BRANDONT 12-06-2012 01:56 AM

I'll be a couple miles down the road I forgot what the name of the campsite is but it's a huge campsite with two bathrooms we usually stay on the other side of the hill from there to get away from people haha

And rob that's good to hear 11 days is way to long I rode my motorcycle for a couple days last week and every time a jeep passed me all I could think is man I'd look like an idiot giving the jeep wave on a bike

Probably near Holmes camp off of Wolfe Well Road. I have friends who will be staying in that same area.

Sure, we can do that and go on up to Sheep Canyon. There is a palm oasis up there. Then to the calcite mine and the Truckhaven training area for the afternoon follies.

Yea Dan I hope to head back out in February too, you will have to join us if you can.

Lyonpride 12-10-2012 10:49 PM

I will also be out there staying just north of Holmes camp the 27th-1st. Coyote Canyon is north of Borrego Springs. Check out the Tom Harrison map for San Diego county. There is an app for it that shows most of the trails in the state park and Octillio.

BRANDONT 12-21-2012 05:21 PM

so whats the head count for next week?

hwy1rubi 12-21-2012 06:19 PM

I'm in heading out in the morning of the 26th.

Lyonpride 12-22-2012 04:54 PM

I'm in, we will be out there mid-day on the 27th.

hwy1rubi 12-22-2012 06:56 PM

May have a buddy going out with a toy hauler and if so we'll be staying just past Holmes camp in the valley to the right.
