New Bestop Safari Top on. Now to fix the rear flapping...

Got my Bestop Safari Top off CL and I'm reasonably happy w it. $60 with no-drill header bracket.
I'm thinking of doing the bent PVC DIY support bar I've seen people make for their soft top.
Anyone got pics of their fixes for the flapping?
Thanks!

Hey I'm wanting to get the same Safari top.

Does it flap really bad? Is it unbearable or slight?

Thanks!

I have the Smittybilt extended top which is the same kind of top and have no flapping issues. When driving the front part of the brief over the front passengers bellows upwards in fact creating the same bow that the mod does. I guess the mod is for when it's parked to allow water to roll off?

Not too bad. Really only at highway speed and only in the very rear.
I'm hoping when I mount that cross bar (see above) and run the safari top over it, that'll fix it. Pics to come next week. Stay tuned.

That's why I got rid of mine, that flapping annoyed me and whipped the hell out of my kids back there. I got an SW2 from spiderweb shade and couldn't be happier.

I almost mounted that cross bar, but decided to just use ratchet straps across the rear header area instead. Works fine. :-)

Added my surrounds back on and tucked the top in. That was not easy. But now there's more tension on the top. Rear ratchet strap works fine too. :-)

Ended up using three of them. Might end up just putting soft top back on. Ho hum.

My Safari Top doesn't really flap at all, even going 65 on the highway.

But you can mount a crossbar or sew a cross bar across the rear edge of the top to prevent flapping, like already suggested. :thumb:
