Thinking about D44 upgrade

I have a 2002 stock Sahara w/D35. Eventually I want to go to 31" tires, and do a bit more off-road.

I saw locally a used D44 3.73 with disk brakes - new rotors/calipers/pads, $425. He says it's "ready to bolt on" and complete.

I understand I may have to shorten my driveshaft, since I have no lift. Is that simple to do? What else is involved with the drum/disk conversion?

What am I getting myself into if I buy something like this? Is it simple enough to do myself, or should I take it to more of an expert to install?

If you buy a Dana 44 make sure it's out of another tj. Then it's a easy one for one swap. The brakes will also swap over. Any good driveshaft shop will be able to shorten your ds and rebalance it for not much money. 425.00 is a good price if its out of a tj.

I got an answer, and apparently it's from a 99 Grand Cherokee. From another thread, I learned that wont work well.

Thanks!

Nope the axle is aluminum and although it is a dana 44 it is weak. Pass this one by.
