Dec 22 - Jeep Run - Big Bear

I'm getting some much needed work done on my jeep. If all goes well December 22 will be my first run with the new mods. As of now, I have not decided on the exact route, but I'm thinking something in or near Big Bear. Anyone interested is welcome to join me. I will post more details as the date gets closer...

If mine is not in the shop I will be in...

MrStuky 12-10-2012 04:09 PM

I've never been on a run before. Mind if I join in?

WOKNROX 12-10-2012 06:02 PM

I'm sure I could make it...it'd be nice to know what trails u have in mind?
Hopefully ur not feelin for a Saturday afternoon fire rd drive like the Crab flats run....

What mods r u havin done to ur jeep?

Rommelx3 12-10-2012 06:38 PM

If the trails you take don't require lockers Id like to tag along!

sjchoueiry 12-10-2012 09:11 PM

Hey Dan,
I might be able to join in.
It will be nice to see you again.
Joe.

Aw man! I can't make it, celebrating Christmas that day with my family that day. Wife's family on the 25th...

thedaringmove 12-10-2012 10:24 PM

I'd like to come as long as we stay off John Bull. (No rocker guards yet)

DTM 12-12-2012 12:29 PM

Still have not decided on a run yet. Here is one option I have been thinking about:

Meet somewhere in Big Bear
Go up Gold Mtn 3n69
left on 3n02
left on 3n10 Little John Bull
left on 3n32
right on 3n16
left on 3n08
to Holcomb Creek
left on 3n16
right on 3n34 Dishpan
and exit at Hook Creek Rd.

thoughts???

Sounds like a good run. I'm headed up there on Saturday and starting with Gold Mtn. I might have to try some of what you suggested.

Run Option #2:
2n01

back on 2n02
down Rattlesnake Canyon to
Mottino Wash
back to 2n02
to 2n61y Heartbreak Ridge
add Pontiac Sluce
and back up 2n01
(extra credit: If we have time do 1n38 on the way down the mtn)

Hi Dan, I would like to join you but I will be getting my trailer and bike ready for Glamis going the 26th through 1st so need to be pre-paired.

I was up in the area of 2no1 last weekend and found a few locked gates. One of the locked gates was by the Juniper Springs Group Camp Ground that I recal. I am under the impression that some of the summer trails are closed for winter so it may be a good idea to contact the ranger station before picking a path.

Does anyone know how much snow they got in Big Bear?

Looking at the pics they posted on the Crab flats run, it looks like shady areas were 6-12 inches and sunny areas were almost almost bare. I would think most of the trails will be hardpacked snow or a muddy mess :) with Low temps...

WOKNROX 12-17-2012 01:36 PM

I was up in Holcomb Valley wheelin all day last Thursday and by the time I left in the evening..... it was snowing all day ....there was around 10 inches on the ground....and still coming down
but I'm sure there ice on the morning and a muddy mess in the afternoon ...

Dec 22 Jeep Run - Silverwood

Due to the fact I don’t know the trail conditions in Big Bear I have decided to do option #3 on Saturday Dec 22. Here is the plan:
-Meet at McDonalds in the Cajon Pass off the 15 freeway and highway 138.
-At 9am we will all caravan to the Silverwood Dam trailhead, where we will air down.
-We will be taking 2017x up to Pilot Rock.
-We will return to highway 138 via 2n37.
-Anyone just wanting a short run can break from us at this point.
-For those who want more fun, we will be doing Cleghorn (2n47) backwards (ie 138 in Silverwood to the 15 freeway).
I would say this is a moderate run with lots of bypasses. For those who want to join us, we will be on CH 04. Hope to see you there… :thumb:
