Squeaky Steering

I've been hearing more and more squeaking coming from the upper steering column since the days have been getting colder and colder.

Is this a simple problem that I can fix, or is it an indication of something more difficult? I was thinking steering fluid, but I've never heard noise coming from this high up in the column before when fluid was low.

Thanks!

Easy fix. Buy an aerosol can of white lithium grease & spreay the steering wheel shaft where it passes through its rubber boot located on the firewall. Spray both sides & work it in all the way. This will cure it for at least several years. Using WD-40 will only fix it for several days until it evaporates. :)

Great, thanks for the info!

I'll give it a whirl this weekend.

Did this today, and it solved the issue. I also used it on my squeaky rear door hinges, and a little on a whiny belt. Fixed all of them immediately!

Thanks again for the tip!
