Really just internal codes. However some say CJ civilian jeep, TJ, trendy jeep, JK, just kidding.

cj actually does stand for civilian jeep. the rest are just codes. the very first jeeps right after the war were civilian jeep, or cj ( cj2-a etc.)

CJ's were followed by the YJ, which some say stood for Yuppie Jeep, they are identifiable by the square headlights.

After the YJ came the TJ, returned to round (correct in my opinion) headlights and got away from leaf spring suspension. Time frame on the TJ was from 97 until 2007 when it was replaced with the new model, the JK.

Also, you may see references made to an LJ, that is the code for the extended wheelbase Unlimited model TJ's. Hope this helps!! :wavey:

Don't forget DJ. U.S. Mail "Delivery Jeep". MJ = military Jeep.

I think they dropped the significance after the CJ.
