I used to wheel a bit at Tanah Keeta ;) Way back in the day probably 12 or so years ago with my TJ out near clear lake when noone was around :thumb:

I'm 14 and not in the scouts anymore but I remember when used to go there with my dad P.S. My dad owns the jeep but isn't on any of these sites so I set this stuff up for him plus it entertains me.

LilYeller 12-16-2012 08:05 AM

Anyone know if they have a place to shoot BB guns out at Corbett? thats all he really wants to do there anyways.

i love jeeps 12-16-2012 03:03 PM

No they wont let you shoot airsoft, and I don't know about the BB gun I think you can only use it if you are hunting small game and for firearms only during hunting season and you do need a permit to hunt. You can still carry your weapon BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE A CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT and it is concealed the same rules apply as if you were carrying in the mall that is the only way you can carry a firearm if not hunting I think that is the rule you may want to double check here are the rules and regulations http://myfwc.com/media/2158570/Corbett.pdf

Thx for the info.

Family and I are in. Please keep us updated on any changes. I come from the south. Is the McD's on the north side?

hombredelassrtas 12-17-2012 12:35 PM

I'd meet you at the south gate! :) I'm itching for a corbett ride real bad! :) mmmmmmmm..

i love jeeps 12-17-2012 09:27 PM

The McDonald's is on the north side I think hombredelassrtas you can lead them in since you volunteered I plan on meeting others at the McDonald's at 9 AM so why don't y'all meet at the south gate at 9:30 that's probably about the time we will leave McDonald's and it will take us about 20 min to get to the north gate I don't really know what trail yeat but I'll keep you guys posted and Hombred if you want to PM me your number or post it here I'll give you a call when were at the north entrance BTW It is six dollars at the entrance to get in if any of you have any questions I'm sure someone who has been there before can help.

WhiskeyMike 12-17-2012 11:21 PM

Sounds good Hombre, I'll meet you at South gate or wherever you prefer. If you wouldn't mind, please post address/GPS coordinates to where you mean. I've been to Corbett once and phone gps took me to North entrance. We drove through and exited on the south side in a residential area. I assume that's the south gate, but want to make sure I'm at the right place.

Not looking for exact schedule, but do you guys expect this to be a few hour event or all/most day? Want to figure out how much of a cooler to pack.

Should be a good time! Get to play with my Xmas presents!

It will be till probably 4 or 5 I would appreciate no alcohol on the trail. As some of you know it is hunting season but no worries as we have a big group and bring trash bags because they don't want people just tearing it up but if we clean up after ourselves and any trash others have left behind I think they would appreciate that too

hombredelassrtas 12-18-2012 07:41 AM

Good stuff. I've got not problem leading the southgate crew. I'll get a map in a moment for you all.

Regarding the $6 to get in, it is honor box envelopes (though sometimes the box is empty) however if you go to your local walmart in the gun section ask for a year access permit. It is around $27 and its year access to all Florida FWC parks. Well worth it if you plan to go 4 or more times.

As for which trails, normally tomato into 3 is the popular trail to go as it is a long trail with some deep water areas. Note the only trails non-hunters are allowed on include Tomato until you hit 3 and 6. 6 is short with a good bit of water and there is nothing on tomato until you hit 3.

Normally a few of us if not all of us have our hunting permits so as long as we are scouting out the next hunt, access is significantly more open. However 3 is normally not bothered as that is what most jeep groups end up going on.

My only request is that a lifted jeep take point on the trail as it always ends up being me and mine is stock ;)

i love jeeps 12-18-2012 07:48 AM

I will lead on the trail and we are close to stock 31' mt and ome 2.5" lift we plan on tomato to 3 but with all the rain i will make a run on it it make sure that it is ok we will not be going much higher than the bumpers

i love jeeps 12-18-2012 07:50 AM

and we got the annual permit very much worth the money

hombredelassrtas 12-18-2012 08:02 AM

Here is corbett info: J.W. Corbett - Visitor Information
Licenses if your interested: Recreational Hunting & Fishing Licenses & Permits

The year pass is the: "Wildlife Management Area Permit"

For south gate get yourself to either Southern/Okeechobee or Northlake blvd. Take Northlake/Okeechobee till they end and make a right on Seminole Pratt and go north till it ends. It ends at the South Gate. On southern make sure to turn on Seminole Pratt or else you will hit lion country safari and then bell glade ;)

Here is a map of corbett itself. Note trail 6 and tomato have been marked. Most groups just start at tomato and go north on it until they get stuck or time is getting late. It can the "smaller" looped section of 3 took me 45 min in bone dry conditions going quickly. It can take a couple hours if swamped like it probably is. However normally people miss the loop and keep going towards 4 and 5 until stuck or its late.

hombredelassrtas 12-18-2012 08:14 AM

Southgate lets plan to meet around 9-9:20 as someone is always running late and the drive from the gate to the trail takes a long time. Stumper (the main road from south) is bumpy and small so it takes longer where the north road is almost somewhat paved'ish so it takes less time.

As for food/drinks I always find a small cooler of Gatorades along with a publix sub and chips can tide me over ;) If everyone brings food we can stop as a group around noon and lunch it out.

Other side notes for any first timers. Make sure bring sunscreen for those white people (like me) and towels should it either rain or you end up deep in water ;) I always have recovery ropes/winch/d-rings etc but its a good investment for everyone to have their own.

i love jeeps 12-18-2012 08:14 AM

Do we all have a cb or a ham radio?

hombredelassrtas 12-18-2012 08:26 AM

i cant find my CB and too broke for a new one at the moment. I'll keep looking for it. If not i'll probably just pick up a cheap handheld as a backup

JKNoor 12-18-2012 03:16 PM

Sounds good- Dan/WhiskeyMike/Adrian my brother and I will meet you guys at the south gate.

Anyone else going from the Boynton-Delray area? We'll prob head out around 8:30ish getting on the turnpike from boynton bch blvd if you want to ride up together

hombredelassrtas 12-18-2012 03:19 PM

good stuff! i may have 2 or 3 more. 2 would likely be north gate and 1 more for south gate

CaptFish 12-18-2012 03:36 PM

This sounds really fun. I'm going to try and make it for sure! only problem for me is my tires are bald but hopefully i can get a new set by the time this happens. I just bought this jeep so it would be the first time i have had it off-road.

AdrianVall 12-19-2012 09:06 AM

JKNoor: I will take the ride up there with ya! That would be cool

hombredelassrtas 12-19-2012 11:33 AM

Also as we have had to in the past, my house is right next to the South gate so should someone break something they are welcome to work on it in my yard.

JKNoor 12-19-2012 03:34 PM

Cool. Adrian I sent you my #, text/call me and we can meet up somewhere that morning

hombredelassrtas 12-19-2012 04:36 PM

hey Luke i messed up my corbett map. It is best to start trail 3 from Tomato and not from the campsite. A good meeting point for the north gate and southgate people would be the entrance to tomato on the main road. Can pull off on the side of south grade road
