Boo Hoo I'm Leaving

Thats right, you heard right I'm leaving the states and re-enlisting to go to Germany. That means 3 years without my jeep. BOO HOO

tiny terror 08-09-2008 07:07 PM

Well that stinks... though being in Germany might be nice. Cain and I spent some time looking at travel guides of Europe today...

kg4kpg 08-09-2008 09:08 PM

You can't take POV's to Germany anymore? What gives with that?!

myblack89yj 08-09-2008 09:29 PM

Oh I can take 1 POV and the wife says I only get to take the family wagon.http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3284/...8ca997.jpg?v=0

JCS05Rubi 08-09-2008 09:54 PM

Humbug. Tell her you need the Jeep for military operations and those crappy roads :D

Let us know how that lifted YJ does on the autoban :)

myblack89yj 08-09-2008 10:03 PM

Hell that thing barely does 60 on the interstate.

Might be time for a new wife.....:flipoff:or leave her and the wagon in the states....

usmc02tj 08-10-2008 12:12 AM

i feel you with the whole missing your jeep...i was actually suprised to find jeeps here in japan and lifted ones at that....

richp 08-10-2008 08:34 AM

I think I would tend to sell the family wagon here, take the jeep over and buy her one of those darn nice high 50mpg diesels over there. Remember, a Mercedes or BMW over there is about the equal of a mid chevy or ford over here and about as common. I know alot of guys who bought 'exotics' [to us] over there a couple of months before coming back, like a saab turbo, then sold it for 2-3 times what they paid for it once uncle sam got it back over here. I think jeeps are worth alot more over there too, the wranglers are considered 'exotics' to most europeans let alone lifted and modified ones, ever note the prices on lift kits over there ? Bolt on a whole bunch of heavy high shipping cost bling bling stuff while it's here and sell it over there. Heck, I'd stick a couple of lift kits in with your household goods, maybe even take some pre-orders from some of the europeans that post here.

Well the Jeep is my toy and I haven't heard much about trails over there. But I'm still trying to convince the wife to let me use some of the re-enlistment money to send it over with us.

kg4kpg 08-10-2008 10:45 AM

get with nicolas-eric, I'm sure he could give you some trail info. I would love to go back to Germany And to take the jeep with me.

myblack89yj 08-11-2008 05:44 PM

well the wife says that if i find a cheap enough shipper i can take it. but my next question is what are some parts i should be taking and what are the laws for fender flares over there.

myblack89yj 10-05-2008 12:52 PM

I know this is an older thread but I figured I would update it for anyone who cares. the family and I made it over here on a 9 hr flight and now we're in mannheim and I start work tom. I shipped the Jeep but bad news is on the way up to Dallas it sprung a leak somewhere in the transfer. The shippers still took it but now that I'm here, I'm worried that it might have been something major. Anyways I'll find out what it is when I recieve the Jeep from the shippers.

yjwrangler 10-05-2008 02:33 PM

I bet they pulled the driveshaft to tow it :D

myblack89yj 10-06-2008 12:57 PM

from what the guy said at the shipping place is that they would take it on a flatbed truck to the port and then drive it onto the boat.
