gas cap ?

just bought a 4 door- curious about why the gas cap isn't locked? it's been a long time since I've had a gas cap that wasn't locked- had a problem before with someone tampering with gas tank when cap wasn't locked- any of you have problems?

Even in the SF Bay Area if CA I haven't locked a gas tank for as long as I can remember. I lasy remember locking my 66 Dodge while going to high school but nothing since.

Mopar sells two

There are two Mopar parts that fit your Jeep..

One that comes with an additional key or one that can be keyed to use your ignition key.

I have been using Mopar Locking gas caps for years and I don't have any plans to stop.

I ordered my last two Jeep with locking gas caps from the Factory as an option,

With the price of gas, it may be a good thought. Liquid Gold, but the price is dropping. I would be more concerned with someone throwing some junk in my tank. Kids can be malicious sometimes.

I always get a locking gas cap on my Jeeps. But the Mopar cap is ridiculously expensive; I just go to AutoZone and pick one up for about $10.

correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most new gas necks have screens or something to keep anything from going down? I know I couldn't get the hose down to the tank the last time I tried (for unspecified reasons.) The last one I got to work was a 1978 Ford, but it was empty.

There are plemty of locking gas caps available on the market. I bought the $20 one that comes with a separate key. I'm planning on eventually ordering the Mopar one that you have have locksmithed to fit your ignition key. They go for about $80 plus the cost of whatever ur local locksmitch with charge to line up the key for you. $$$Pricey$$$ option.
