Did you fill up just in case?

Anyone else go and fill your JK up this evening just in case the Mayans were correct?

Ok, I needed to fill up anyways but it did cross my mind that I'd be ready just in case.

thinkxingu 12-20-2012 09:14 PM

No.

If the world ends, we won't be here to drive our Jeeps anyhow.

Any "Walking Dead" fans here?

Lowerumble 12-20-2012 09:29 PM

I filled up in case... it gets down to 0* tonight. Never have an near empty tank in the cold....

KYFootDoc 12-20-2012 09:36 PM

I did take advantage of the a black Friday sale at my local gun shop to stick up on. 40, 380, 9mm, and 7.62 x 39 as well as 7.62 x 25 ammo. Also gassed up the vehicles

UgaTyler 12-20-2012 09:41 PM

I stay stocked on ammo. Anytime I can find any .40 or 9mm on sale I jump on it. I just purchased a ruger sr22 .22 pistol just to practice shooting because the ammo is so cheap.

Hansen 12-20-2012 09:50 PM

Picked up a 12 pack. Does that count?

Is the world over yet? What time zone are the Mayans working off of?

What is it about the supposed end of the world that makes people think they need gas?

You'd be a lot more likely to find me at mass than filling my tank for the end of the world.

Somehow, when the Rapture comes, I doubt Jesus is going to be asking folks how much gas is in their fuel tank as the basis for His judgment.

Z28Bryan 12-20-2012 10:34 PM

I did, but thats because i was at 1/4 tank. It was the first time i filled up my new jeep!!!

I think the end of the worlders have many scenarios, and I am not sure any of them involve a hippy questioning you about your jeep!

It is more along the lines of a mystery planet, maybe aliens, maybe great back to back natural disasters, etc...

mathew85 12-20-2012 10:43 PM

I didn't for the mayans, but I did for Draco whipping across the midwest.

I also picked up a Sr-22 and a Walther PPQ 2 weeks ago - SR22 is a fun little pistol to shoot especially with ammo so cheap..Love my PPQ though

Have to say though my wife and I both filled up today :whistling:

First off, the post was a joke…but I was talking more along the lines of natural disasters/post apocalyptic earth where a good jeep (like all of ours) could come in handy.

Does anyone remember when the computers were all supposed to crash when we went from 1999 to 2000, nothing happened then either.

bfgrubi 12-20-2012 11:18 PM

I think if the Mayans could see that far into the future they would still be around.

Their calendar didn't take Leap Year into account, so technically, the world should have already been over with. Besides, why would one think they could predict the end of the world when they couldn't predict the end of their own civilization??

I believe bc they essentially updated software to keep counting. And they wouldn't have crashed they just would have rolled over to the earliest year in memory which I think was 1900.
The fear came from if banks and such showed 1900 people wouldn't have money, etc.

I think the above is accurate.

And no didn't get gas. In fact light come on during drive home. I figure it's worth the risk.

ohioviper 12-21-2012 12:47 AM

Because of this post I ran out and filled it up.Well I really wanted some chips and a candy bar but it was a good excuse.

Im going tomorrow to try and find and buy a Keltec 380 for my son-in law for Christmas.Bought one last year for the wife and did it up in Pink Dura bake and mounted a lazer on it for her.She loves it. Im due for a new one myself but I cant find the one I want. Im waiting on a M&P shield 40 but cant find any. The mad rush with the looming gun bans coming and there is no ammo ,mags or guns left around here in the local gun shops.Im telling you the shelves are bare.
