Gears

Looking at getting my D35's re geared to a 4.56 ratio. I just wanted to get y'all's input on brands I should go with before I buy some foreign crap.

Dana-Spicer would be my #1 choice, that is after all what your Dana axles came loaded with. Superior Axle at Superior Axle & Gear would be another good choice. What is your engine/transmission/tire size you've chosen the 4.56 for? :)

Well I just got my jeep about a month ago. It's a mostly stock jeep wrangler. The guy that originally owned it put a 4.5 in lift with 35's...with that being said, nothing in the driveline was done. It's the 4.0 Columbia edition and I think those come standard with the 3.07 gears which is not cutting it at all for those tires. Who knows though! I'm new

Ok but what transmission and model year? 4.56 isn't often the best choice for 35" tires.

It's a 5 speed standard. I don't know if its the ax-5 or ax-15.

And it's an 04

Your 5-speed is an NV3550, the AX-15 transmission used behind the 4.0L engine was last used in the '99 Wrangler. For your NV3550 transmission and 35" tires, you'll be much (!) happier with 4.88 gearing. I ran that combination (35" tires, 4.88, 5-speed transmission, 4.0L engine) for years and it was optimal for street and trail. No, 4.88 will not produce too high of an rpm on the highway, it is just right for that big and heavy of a tire. :)

I second that motion!
