Swing away tire carriers with 33's

Just as the subject says. Please list brand and cost. Thinking about taking my 33 off the trunk and on a swing away.
Thanks!

I don't like Smittybuilt, but this actually wasn't too bad...it actually worked as it was designed instead of having to screw with it to make it fit and operate like every other thing I have ever come across from them...
Here is a link to Q-tec, but I got it cheaper from 4WD Hardware. I've had it almost a year, and I think I paid $320 for it.Smittybilt Classic Rear Bumper with 2" Receiver & Swing Away Tire Carrier in Textured Black for 87-06 Jeep® Wrangler YJ, TJ & Unlimited - Quadratec

Came on the rig. 33x13.5 TSL. Held the spare nice and securly didn't move around much. I didn't like having the spare off the bumper blocking my view and adding 12 inches to the lenght of my rig. I pulled it off and built a tub mounted holder.

My whole thought process in this is when I go wheeling I can only take one in the jeep because I put the spare in the back strapped down because I have it on the stock mount.

Thanks for the posts! Keep em coming!

Bestop tub mounted carrier. Use any bumper you want, or your stock bumper. Swings out with tailgate.

With 35" spare:

I thought the whole point of a swing away was to get the tire off the trunk so there was a less likely chance to cause damage then when it's on the trunk.

Correct. Stock spare tire mounts are not designed to handle the weight of an oversize tire and can eventually fail, damage tailgate hinges, etc.
Many on here (including me) have made due with the stock set up for up to a 33"tire with some careful adjustments. Mainly, setting the tire spacers up so they still make tight contact with the tire and keep it from bouncing. I used hockey pucks. It worked for me for a few years before I had the money to spend on a tire carrier.

Edit: The Bestop, and OR-FAB tub mounted carriers support most of the weight at the tub and not the tailgate.

I am not a fan of having all that weight and leverage on one side of the bumper on the bumper mounted swing away carriers. Just my personal preference.

Spare Tire Carrier

Here is a whole section of bumper and tire carriers. If u wait for a big sale "presidents day" u can get some good deals.
I have the smittybilt SRC rear bumper and tire carrier with a 35 on steelie mounted on it. Paid around $300 for it. One thing neat about this one is that the rear post that sticks up behind the tire has 2 pretapped nuts in the top of it. I will be posting a build to make a rear light bar, 3rd stop light, shovel, axe & pick carrier that can be bolted on and off. I will also be mounting my highlift under the tire on the carrier.

This setup helps me carry all of the items I use on a 1 or 2 week trip down to Baja California. The TJ Wrangler has a very limited amount of space for storage - this tire carrier system helps tremendously.

Here is my Jeep loaded down for a nice camping trip to Baja California. To accomodate all of the weight, I had to have the mounting tabs boxed and reinforced (welded) to make the frame mounts less prone to failure.

Here I am standing next to the Jeep before pulling out for the Mexicali Desert with JustRuns 4WD Club of San Diego.

That is the most serious set up I think I have ever seen! Very nice by the way! If I lived on the west coast I might look into that but I live on the flat east coast.

Thanks for the compliment. There are additional tabs welded to the frame, along with a boxed support on the frame that fully supports the additional weight of the Coleman cooler, 10 gallons of gasoline, 33" spare INTERCO tire (no lightweight) and Hi Lift. That's a lot of weight over the rear axle. I run the MX-6 shocks on 'medium' or '3' out of '5' - '5' being super firm when I am off road. This helps get me way into the backcountry for some true camping and 4 wheeling adventures.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the pics and links. I went with Nates 4x4 rear bumper with 2" hitch, dring tabs, CB antenna mount and swing away tire carrier with high lift mount. Also grabbed his rock sliders with step. Great product, great service, great price.
