sounds like a plan. Will this be an all day run? should I plan on packing a lunch? Do you guys have any trail requirements that I should know about?

Just scroll to the top of the thread. All of the important info us up there.

TheDesertOutlaw 12-25-2012 09:48 PM

No food or services - Pack it in/pack it out

Joshua Tree does not have food courts, auto parts stores, cellular phone coverage, etc. Be sure to pack your meal and bring plenty of water. Dress for temperatures in the 40s and 50s - due to recent rains, there will more than likely be standing rain along the trail leading to muddy conditions.

Bring them along. It is going to be a good sized group, and we're going to run sand dunes (close to Hwy 62) and the trail will probably be loaded with mud to test your Mud-Terrain tires.

That's a cool run in J-Tree. Always a fun place to visit. Haven't run those trails in a year. I'll keep an eye out on this thread and see how things develop and join if possible. Happy Trailin'!

Trail Description

Berdoo Canyon Road is in desperate need of repair. You can tell when a JK gets stuck, the road needs some work!

Sometimes a low center of gravity does not help matters when you are driving on asphalt.:whistling:

No problems for this LJ w/3.5" of Rubicon-Express lift and 33" Goodyears.

If you are locked up, your Jeep will make the return trip UP and DOWN this fun chute along Berdoo Canyon Road!:thumb:

With street tire pressure and small OEM-sized treads, this Grand Cherokee ZJ could not make it past this small obstacle.:surrender:

Some sections of Berdoo Canyon Road actually resembles a canyon, thankfully.

Gold Crown Road - Where the OEMs go to test Grand Cherokees

Near Mission Well, there had been a FLASH FLOOD:hide: - Mud made travel very challenging causing some 2WD vehicles to TURN BACK!

Along Gold Crown Road, there is a small rain puddle we drove our Jeeps through. My Jeep was MOST STUCK within minutes!

BFGoodrich All-Terrain's actually worked in this mud puddle. You just can't judge a book by its' cover.

Alright....I think I can tie the Gordian Knot, so they'll have to struggle to get out of it, then when we reach the trail, we just do what Alexander the Great did, and cut it.....

LBrito 12-28-2012 02:33 AM

Looks like I'm free, so I'm in.
I'll be on CB CH 22 when entering the area (unless someone posts a different official channel).
I'll also be on HAM using 146.46 MHz Simplex (Call Sign: KJ6KHK).

TheDesertOutlaw 12-28-2012 11:42 AM

Luis, I'll monitor CB CH 22 along I-10 through the Coachella Valley. Numbers have grown from 15 to near 20. Friends from Tijuana, Mexico will be making the drive up, making this a run with international appeal. Look for a ton of Jeeps at the Love's parking lot.

Riverdude 12-28-2012 06:00 PM

Hi DesertOutlaw, This looks like its going to be great ride. We have always wanted to see J-tree. Do you mind if we join in? Might drag a buddy with a JKU along. thanks, John
