Identify make/model of security key pad.
1 Attachment(s)
Looking for some help to see If anybody can identify this key pad. I'm the third owner of this '95 YJ and the first owner installed it.
There is no paper work associated with it. It stays dark with a red light on the # key. When the ignition key is turned on, it lights up and it requires a 4 digit code to extinguish the key pad lights an crank the engine.
I do have the code. I would like to identify the unit and see if I can get a manual.
Thanks in advance.

I have never seen anything like that! I am sure that it is not stock jeep. Are u able to check the wires? If you can take it apart it could have a name or something on the inside. Just a thought. I looked around on google but didnt find anything but alarm systems with a key pad. good luck, I hope someone has an answer.

do you type in the code and then hit the start button ? It looks like it might be a IEI keypad. If it is I have instructions on how to reset the code.

Does it have 3 lights?

When I bought mine there was no Instruction manual, it was homemade. I bought mine from e bay. I installed it myself. It came with a list of wires to hook up to what. I should have a wire for ground, power from battery, power from ignition switch and a wire for start interrupt(which if memory serves is the wire you connect to the column). I think the one I used to own had a key code of 1476#. Im not sure if they all had the same combo but it was posted on the back of the unit on a sticker. Post moer pics of the wires going into it, and it might jog my memory.

Thanks for the replies. I have not taken it apart yet. (not broken, no need to fix it).
You have to input the code every time to allow the starter to engage. I googled IEI keypads and they look very similar.
It does not have any lights or indications other than the keypad itself. No 3 lights above it. It was installed in 1995.

can you take a pic of the back circuit board? I can tell maybe what it is. If it is a IEI, i can tell you how to program it with a different code. You can also put a code in that will keep it opened until you plug in another code. I was thinikng of doing it with my YJ but I havent done it yet.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for and it worked.

It might be a while before I can get to the circuit board and take pics. I would like to change the code to something easier for me to remember.

Ok........I managed to turn the keypad off.
Turning it back on seem to be a problem. When the unit was active the * key (bottom left) would flash red anytime the key was NOT in the ignition. Once ignition was turned on all keys would light up green and extinguish when correct code was inserted, allowing starter to engage.
Last time I entered the code and lights went off, I pressed the # key (bottom left). Now the # key is lit up (green) continuously and starter engages at will. I have tried all kinds of combinations with the ignition, on/off, order of input, code, #key,*key. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas? Thanks

Did look behind the panel. but didn't open the key pad, it's pretty small (1.25"x1.75") and didn't want to mess the seal.
It has 4 wires coming out, 1 to starter circuit, 1 to a box relay, 1 to ground and 1 not used.
I can deactivate it by entering the code and pressing the # key. But the only way to make it active again is to disconnect and reconnect the power so as to reset it.

if you type in the code again and hit the # key it might relock or reset.

What the hell is that thing under the text, before the image? > Looks like some sort of an object tag.

Let me ask you this... Was your Jeep owned by a spy prior to you? I wouldn't screw with it you're liable to get ejected!:p
