Lincoln Lockers...
 
I just cracked my D35 stock carrier and shattered my spider gears... Thinking I will obtain some new/used spiders and weld the spiders completely to the carrier as my cheapest/quickest/easiest fix. Any other good ideas or tips on this process? Would also like any other tips/ideas for the rear axle while im welding away!

As long as its only a temp. fix it should get you back on the road the easiest and fastest but Ive seen several fail on the trail. What made it fail in the first place? just driving or abuse?

Welding a Dana35 is like playing Roulette with a single shot loaded pistol. Its going to go off as soon as you squeeze just a little. Honestly the best thing to do is devote more time to finding a deal on something useable. Don't get me wrong, Ive done exactly what you have said, but each time it has let the fuzz on my nuts grow just long enough to be painfully caught up in the zipper.....sitting in a mudhole, on the side of a trail middle of nowhere...or the worst, merging into rushhour beltway traffic with tire/wheel/axleshafts rolling forward and away...not fun,not fun atall.

While not inexpensive to have installed, a Truetrack is indeed a better solution for a Dana 35 since it's not nearly as likely to bust the axle shafts as a lincoln locker is.

I just had a Detroit True trac installed in my D35. So far so good.
