Rancho 2" Sport Lift Installed

Rancho has a 2" Sport Lift that includes new front springs, rear spacers, and 9000xl series shocks for about the cost of buying the shocks alone. Less than $400 from Amazon shipped to Alaska. Nobody else that I've found will ship to Alaska for free.

The lift took me about 2 hours for the rear install and 2.5 for the front working alone. The only mistakes I made were mine and are included in those install times.

The lift rides great, better than stock. I have the front shocks set at 2 and the rear shocks at 3. I gained about 2.25 inches in the front and .75 in the back for a level look. I already had 59 series rear springs from the factory. I'll be installing a Superwinch TS9500 on the stock bumper in the near future which will cost me about .5 inch of the front lift.

I am very pleased with this lift, especially for the price and the ease of the install. :dance:

Here are pictures of my Jeep before the lift, the day I brought her home with the 2013 Sahara tires and rims, and after the lift install with my winter tires 285/65R18 BFG K0s with studs on older Sahara rims. The fronts rubbed at full steering lock before the install and are now rub free.

Can't find the link on amazon. Would you happen to have a link handy? I was leaning toward the TF but like this way better for the money you get a lot more.

That looks real good. It's a subtle change but really improves the stance and look a lot.

I have high hopes for that lift. It could prove to be a big hit among those looking for a slight lift/level at a good price.

Crap.. For another $100 or so Rancho should offer a rear replacement coil.
I mean a "option".
But I do agree, you can't go wrong for the price.

I agree. I was wondering why they use a rear spacer. I guess to save money makes sense.

I just came across this kit within the last few days and am pretty stoked about it, I had been planning on going with the TeraFlex performance 1.5 kit but was juggling how to afford shocks as well. This kit is perfect for my needs. I already have 59 rate springs in the rear but have a ridiculous 14 in the front so I have what I consider a "worse than normal" rake.

With this kit it looks like the most I will need to add are some Teraflex sway bar links and I'd be all set.

Thanks guys, I'm really enjoying it.

Here's the link through Amazon for the 4 door version with the 9000xl shocks. You have to search for it by part number to find it. Don't worry about the number left shown on Amazon, it ships directly from Rancho.

The only thing this kit is missing is the front sway bar links. It is fine on the road without them. My front sway bar is currently sitting at about -8 degrees. The max recommended is -5 so it isn't that far out. However, I will be adding a set of JKS disconnects to mine.

You can use your rears on the front. If anybody needs a 10" longer set for the rear let me know. They are The TF's that came with my lift.
I don't need them, we can work something out.

onetraveller, I had this lift installed today and the front looks to sit up almost 2" higher than the back. From the pics you posted yours doesn't look that way. The manager at the tire shop was of course gone for the day when I went to pick up my jeep so I couldn't ask him. Is this normal?

First, make sure they used the 2 door kit as Rancho supposedly has different springs for the 2 and 4 door versions.

What I see in your picture is the leveling effect that this lift provides. While the space within the front wheel well looks larger than the space within the rear wheel well, the bottom of the side step looks to be parallel with the ground. Hence the concept that the vehicle has been leveled out. This lift gives you 2"+ of lift in the front and 3/4" of lift in the rear to accomplish this.

I recently added my winch and mounting plate to my stock bumper (about 110 pounds combined) and it dropped the front about 1/2 inch.

How does it ride?

Ok, when you talk to the installers, ask if they loosened then retorqued the control arm bolts. If they didn't, the bushings have a preload on them that can cause a little (very little) extra lift. I let mine set for a couple of days to give the springs time to settle in before I measured it.

Also, which rear springs do you have? Mine are the stiffer 59 series as I have the max tow package.

I think it looks good in the photos. But it's your Jeep so if you aren't happy with it.... I'd suggest driving it for a couple of weeks before I made any quick changes.

Looks great! As mentioned we didn't include rear springs to keep cost down. We offer a 3" SPORT system (and a 4" SPORT system too) that comes with front/rear springs,trackbar, new front brakes etc for a bit more. We also have some other systems that incorporate control arms as well. Congrats and that is a SMOKING deal!

Did the shop us the OE rubber isolater on the rear with the new rear coil spacer??

X2 on the isolators

I had a similar issue with my TF springs. I was almost 2" higher in the front. Never figured out as to why. TF had sent me 1" spacers for the rear to level the jeep.
But like mentioned level is not always how it looks. Level is flat at the pitch seem ends.
Mine now is 1" or so higher in the front measuring from the flares.

Rancho 2" Sport Lift Installed
 
Mine gets delivered next week. $375 shipped from Amazon with 9000XLs. One of the things I saw when you search at Amazon is the lowest price doesn't always come up as the main buy - the lowest is from Amazon directly. Just look around on the page for something that says More Buying Choices. It's still for sale as of right now for $375.

Now, when I first ordered the delivery wasn't until mid February, but it was moved up over 3 weeks and will be here next week.

My rear springs are only 55s (Sport, no tow package). I got a new set of 58s on eBay for $40, which should do me fine since I don't plan on towing but I did buy a Smittybilt rear bumper. On the front I also have a Smittybilt bumper, winch, and Hi Lift jack to install so hopefully I will be level when all is done. Install next week!

Correct! We ran into an issue on the newer JK's that we had to get a 2 door into the shop to tweek our system last fall.

This kit seems like a great entry level alternative over the leveling kits. First, you get what are considered among the best shocks at the price point that others would cost you (Bilsteins). Second your going up in the spring size for the front, still a linear spring like the factory one, but a bit more height. From here you can then move up later with either RK or Metal Cloak and build up your system by pieces (Control arms, trackbar, springs etc.).

Does anyone know if these Rancho arms could be used with a 2.5"-3.5" lift system?

The only down side is that the shocks in our 2" SPORT system are different than the ones used in our 3" or 4" systems..
Our arms can be used for either a 3" or 4" lift as well.
We also offer upper adjustable control arms (front/rear) as well...
But you are right the cost on this system is pretty tough to pass up...
