Celebration back to the ROCKS! Calico bound march 8th weekend

5 Attachment(s)
Hey everybody! :wavey:

By March, I will be 100% healed from my back surgery! I have been Dying looking at all the pics and videos of everybody wheeling! Let's set this up!! :punk:

Date: March 8th- 10th.

*~*Calico Bound!

The address to the ghost town is 36600 Ghost Town Road Yermo, CA 92398. To get to our camp, you'll go 100 yards past the Ghost Town. Doran Scenic Rd is on the left. I'll put up some blue marker tape. Make that left and keep going straight down the dirt road. You'll run right into us. We're going to camp off Doran Scenic Rd before you go around the bend to the Gatekeeper. There's plenty of room for RVs. It's dry camping. No facilities, water etc. We'll run Doran, Odessa, can run Wall Street, and just go tool around.

If you want to come out Saturday, we'll leave camp for the trails around 10am.

You should have tow points; front and rear, sliders, armor, be lifted and at least 31's..33's are better. Lockers are not required, but helpful in a couple spots. If you don't have them, no biggie. Worse case is you get a strap/winch.

Look for my yellow happy face flag. I'm a white TJ. American Flag flying driver with a pink windshield banner that reads It's just a rock- I'll get over it

CB- Ch 4. ( I don't get cell service once out in the canyon.)

*****FRIENDLY REMINDER FOR EVERYONE*****

WOOD-PLEASE BRING WOOD!!

It's always the same couple people bringing wood..

EVERYBODY CAMPING, PLEASE BRING WOOD!!

Make the room in your rig even if you have to sit on it..bring a bundle PLEASE!!!

Glad to see you are going to get the itch scratched at Calico. When do we get to see pic's of Joan-zie?

530ktm 01-02-2013 05:06 PM

The large Meet and Greet event happens 2 weeks later at the same place. Why don't you go then so we can all get together for the big event?

I finally got another digital but I can't get the pics to download. I'll take it with me Saturday when I paint my Jeep. We got rained out last Saturday.

Bummer. Another time will come along. :thumb:

It's OK..for me, it's really too many rigs on the obstacles anyways. Makes for very long waiting periods etc. I tend to prefer the smaller groups..up to 15 max ..and even then with 15, it can take a while depending on drivers and rigs.

I agree, too many Jeeps makes for a slow day, even in the local trails. I like to wheel with 5 to 8 Jeeps myself and they are going to have several groups in Calico as they did last year so some can go easy, moderate and difficult. I like to go just to say hi to everyone and get out in the open. Proven fact also that as the time approaches the people start dropping off steadily so the number of Jeeps quickly becomes smaller. :thumb:

Yep.5 is actually perfect for Calico. Even getting up to 15 rigs can be a long day..and then, you can't forget about always having the possibility of running into another group you don't know ahead of you...who are also taking Forever on the obstacles and holding up the show. It happens all the time there. It's just going to be soo long for me not wheeling because of my back surgery, that the last thing I want to do is a lot of waiting around for my first trip back out. So, I had made other plans for that weekend..and hopefully, whoever can't make that weekend with you guys can make mine. So it'd work out for everyone. :)

Rocks AGAIN!

Oh, I don't know...I'll try to make it. :whistling:

Fuddy-duddies

 Oh you're that Lorie (IH8RDS), I've heard of you and your group. I hear you folks like to have fun and...stuff, and quite the...um...entertainers!!

I don't know if us (wife and I) fuddy-duddies will fit in with the likes of you and your "group."

And BTW what is the L-Shuffle?:rofl:

****************************************

For you young ones (Parker) that my not be familiar with this phrase "fuddy-duddy"--this is for you.

Noun-"fuddy-duddy" - a conservative who is old-fashioned or dull in attitude or appearance; "you may accuse me of being and old fuddy-duddy trying to stop young people having fun"

I hope it's not the same as how my dog scratches his itch on the living room carpet!

If so, please spare us any pics.

I H8RDS 01-02-2013 10:02 PM

Where is this posted? Didn't see a thread about it.

Edit: I found it. I agree 44 rigs, doesn't count the people that will just show up, is a bit much in Calico's canyons.

44 rigs up Doran. Yikes!!! I like the small 3-5 rig runs through the Canyons. It only takes a couple of hours to make the circuit that way. Then you still have time to do it backwards. Lol

You guys crack me up 3 - 5 rigs:popcorn: I have done this run with 15 rigs and enjoyed every minuite of it, it's a meet and greet it's all about running, hanging, seeing, and talking jeeps. If ya enjoy a private party then post a limit of first 5 jeeps:doh: Im going on a run this Saturday and so far 40 jeeps are going that will be a cool caravan, kaos, jeep talking, good time.

You guys have to remember what this is...a Meet & Greet. I think its cool that Jeff, Armand Etc put these on to bring fellow Jeepers out that might not otherwise come out. I totally agree that a 20 Jeep run with stops at every obstacle can make for a long day, we have all been there...
Last year they tried to break it into a few groups and I think we had 2 running the Doran loop and then a large beginner group. They felt that the easy run was ...too easy and we have been trying to help them find a more "moderate" type of run. So while I agree that large groups can be a pain, I enjoy getting together with everyone at these events! :)

Dang!!! Did I strike a nerve? Don't get me wrong. I enjoy the M&G's. Always good to catch up with old friends, and make new ones. But it does make for a long day is all I'm saying.

Bill, I agree with you.

These M&G are more about meeting new wheelers and visit with those you have already met. The trail ride is more of a bonus on top of meeting new people--not just ordinary people but Jeep people!! It is a real good thing to have people like that take newbies under there wing of sorts to make them feel comfortable to take it out and play with it!
